Understanding the Reasons why People Divorce
Over half of the marriages which occur in the United States
will end in divorce at some point in time. This is a statistic
which highlights just how many people do not feel content
with their relationships and who want to change.
Why is there such a demand for divorce attorneys? Why is
the divorce rate so high- and why are people doing it? These
questions are central to any person who has studied the
subject, is getting married, or is planning on securing a
Freedom of Choice
As such, it is a good idea for us to delve into the reasons why people choose to separate, and why things
seem so dire for the institution of marriage. First of all, it is important to recognize that this is a time of
unheralded liberty in the United States.
While this country has always portrayed itself as the land of freedom, the fact of the matter is that
women were often kept down by oppressive laws and social institutions which kept them from
divorcing. With men and women having equal rights, the rate of divorce has of course raised up.
That is not to say that women are more prone to divorce than men, or that this country is experiencing
any kind of moral decline. The fact of the matter is that one of the aspects of freedom is having the
freedom to not be happy with choices made in life, and to seek to alter them.
Therefore, it is abundance of choice which leads to divorce conditions. As for the rationale for splitting
up, there are a great many reasons why people do it.
For some people, money issues will be the driving force for
their divorce. Money and financial security are very
important, and those who are facing stress from money and
who are not on the same page about how to spend it are
more likely to split up.
Another major cause of divorce is dissatisfaction with the
sexual nature of a relationship. Some may not feel satisfied
with having their sexual needs met, and others may want to
end things based on the fidelity of their mate.
The Wedge Between
Others may simply feel that the romantic spark is gone, and that it is time to pursue other options in the
search for happiness in life. It is their right to do so, in order to find the best circumstance that they can.
Trauma also has a way of breaking apart marriages. Even with a good divorce lawyer, it is a hard ordeal
to go through. The death of a friend or loved one or the hospitalization or disabling of a person creates
a massive amount of stress in life, leading to strain between couples.
While the reasons for getting divorce are myriad in nature, the good news is that the process is more
streamlined than ever. For those who want to move on with life, getting a fast release from their
commitments is a breath of fresh air on their way to better things.
