11th EFORT Congress 2010 Abstract submission deadline: 15 September 2009 Early registration deadline 31 January 2010 www.efort.org A combined congress with SECOT Sociedad Española de Cirugía Ortopédica y Traumatología First announcement & call for abstracts Madrid, Spain: 2-5 June 2010 A combined congress with SECOT / Congreso combinado EFORT - SECOT Welcome from EFORT Prof. Dr. Karl-göran Thorngren Dr. Manuel Cassiano neves Dear Participant, Welcome to the EFORT Congress 2010, to be held in Madrid, Spain, in combination with the annual congress of the Spanish Orthopaedic and Traumatology Society. The EFORT Executive Committee and the Spanish Orthopaedic and Traumatology Society are delighted to invite you to participate in this Congress in beautiful Madrid – a capital known for its architecture and art. It also has a convenient and well situated congress venue. The scientific programme includes symposia and instructional lectures delivered by distinguished speakers from across Europe. Free papers, e-posters, workshops, industrial symposia and technical exhibits will all feature. There will be simultaneous translation in the combined plenary sessions whereas the congress language remains English Controversial case discussions and pro and con debates invite you actively to contribute and share your knowledge with colleagues from all around Europe. Furthermore, in our half-day ExMEx sessions you will gain specialised expertise and share information with different opinion leaders on a specific topic in a group limited to 100 colleagues. For the scientific programme we have successively increased collaboration with our speciality society partners. Along with the scientific exhibition, this congress format will cover the whole range of contemporary orthopaedics and traumatology issues in Europe. At the EFORT congress in Madrid we will share scientific findings, experience and gain a greater awareness of future trends. Our local organising committee has planned an attractive social programme that emphasises Madrid’s beauty and magnificence. Join us in Madrid and enjoy a first-class training programme. The city‘s art galleries, including the renowned Prado and The Museo nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (devoted to 20th century Spanish art, with works by Miro, Dali and Picasso), contain a huge number of works of art. Art-lovers, of course, will particularly revel in a holiday in Madrid, but the city has something to offer anyone who enjoys exploring the world‘s great capitals, from parks to flea markets, from flamenco shows to tiny taverns. As if this weren‘t enough, there is also the Plaza H de Toros, Spain‘s largest bullring, where regular bullfights are still held. And sports fanatics can enjoy footballing action from Real Madrid and Atletico de Madrid, Spain‘s most famous football teams. lle Ca Calle S e r na eos M.
