Alternatively why not mix in some household sauces like mustard, brown sauce to double the mess and keep the guests guessing. Icebreaker – Discovery Game This is a good game to start a party so that people can break the ice and get to know each other a little better great for showers or any event. Each guest receives a piece of paper and a pencil. In that paper they will find 10-15 different sentences. They have to find somebody in that room that shares what the sentence says and once they do, they write in that persons name. No listing yourself as the answer either! The winner is the first person to finish or whoever gets the most names, and you can give them a reward. To make it more fun, read the sentence and the answers to the group, so all can enjoy. For instance you can write things such as: - Find somebody who wears your same shoe size Name: - Find somebody who has been to Australia etc You can be as creative as you want to be! This one is a guaranteed success to make people feel comfortable with each other. Baby BANK Make sure you tell everyone to bring change e.g. 20 p pieces or 50p the idea of the game is each person is given a name tag such as bib or pram etc. Then everyone has to call that person by the name on the tag and not their name. If they call them by the name they have to put a 20p piece or whatever you decide in a bottle or money box which will then go towards the baby bank. What’s in the Bag The aim is to let each guest guess what everyday baby products are inside a brown paper Materials Pen for each guest Plain piece of paper to write on hard writing surface Brown or non see-through bag filled with 10 common baby products Suggestions: Dummy, milk bottle, teddy bear, teething ring, rattle…….. Preparation Find 10 baby products and place them inside a bag. It is helpful if you can come up with 2 of each of the 10 items, so that you can pass two bags around at the same time. Make a list of the 10 items. Instructions Pass out a sheet of paper and pen to each guest. Pass the bag around to the guests and give them about 20 seconds to feel the items. They then pass the bag on and write down as many items as they think they have identified. After everyone has had a turn take the items out of the bag one at a time and guests can check which items they have listed. The person with the most items identified is the winner. As a bonus, the mum to be gets to keep all the items in the bag. Cotton Balls needed The aim is to scoop as many cotton balls from one bowl to another while blindfolded. Materials Cottonballs - one or two bags. Large/medium bowl Wooden spoon Any baby clothing item to use as blindfold Preparation set up wooden spoon and the bowl with cotton balls and have another empty bowl to put the scooped out cotton balls in. Piece of pape to keep note of how many cotton balls have been scooped out. Instructions Place a bunch of cotton balls in a large bowl. Set an empty bowl in front of it. Each guest in turn is blindfolded and has to transfer as many cotton balls from one bowl to the other in 20 seconds This is not as easy as it sounds as the cotton balls are very light so difficult to get a feel of the weight. The guest who transfers the most wins. Guess the Baby Guests The Aim is to get each guest to bring a baby photo of themselves and then everyone has to match the photo to the individual. Materials Pens for each guest one sheet of Paper for each guest to write the answers small paper bags enough for each photo and a box to keep the photos in. Preparation Make sure you instruct guests in your invitation to bring a baby photo of themselves. Gather required materials. If you do forget to make ask in the invitation, just call the guests before hand to let them know. As the guests arrive, place their photos in the bags and label as one two three etc. You make a note of the number against the guest photo. Instructions Give each guest a piece of paper and a photo. Have them write down their guesses as to who they think the baby picture is of. After everyone has seen all the photos, then read who was who and hold up the photo at the same time. Guests mark those that they get correct. The guest who gets the most right, wins. Baby Food The aim is to guess contents of baby food jars by sight. Materials Between 5- 10 baby food jars Paper and pen for each guest Hard writing surface Preparation Take between 5- 10 different baby food jars and number the bottom of each bottle. Use a permanent marker or write on masking tape and stick it to the bottom of the jar. Be sure to write down which baby food goes with which number. Instructions Place the bottles on a tray and pass it around to the guests. The guests then try to guess what flavour is in each bottle and write it down. After everyone has seen the bottles and guessed, then read the answers. The person who has the most flavours listed correctly is the winner. Pass the Parcel Game This is the same as the children’s game except the items in the parcel are baby related Wrap a small gift in several layers of paper before the shower begins. Have as many layers of wrapping paper as there are guests. Fasten each layer with tape. All the shower guests sit in a circle. When the music starts playing the guests pass the parcel round from person to person in the circle. As soon as the music stops, the person holding the parcel removes as many layers of wrapping paper as possible. When the music starts again, the guests continue to pass around the parcel. The guest who removes the last layer of wrapping paper wins the game and gets to keep the gift! Candy in a Bottle Fill a baby's bottle with jelly beans or some other suitable sweets. You will need to count them as you fill the bottle. Have the guests take a guess at the number of pieces there are in the baby's bottle. Whoever guesses the nearest total wins the game. Baby Sketch Game Give each attendee a paper and a pen. Have them draw a picture of a baby, but instead of holding the paper on their laps, they have to put it on their heads. To ease the drawing, put a paper plate or magazine under the paper. The guest of honor judges which picture she likes best or most resembles a baby. Penny for Your Thoughts Introduction Game - Have two pennies from the same year, you'll a different year for each guest. Example:15 guests, 30 pennies, 15 different years. When guests come in they are given a penny and the other penny is put in a jar. When all the guests have arrived the Mother-to-be selects a penny and the person with that corresponding year tells a little about themselves, how they know the Mother, and maybe a little story about the new Mom. After everyone has spoken the Mom-to-be puts her pennies into the jar and selects one for a prize
