By now, you have heard from your child’s teacher about setting up an appointment for a
conference on March 12, 2013. The afternoon conferences will be held from 12:40 – 2:40 p.m.;
the evening conferences from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. If you require translation services, please notify
your child’s teacher or our parent coordinator, Ms. Marnie Tannenbaum. If you have not
scheduled an appointment, please do so. This is a half-day of instruction and students will be
dismissed as follows:
Students in Grades K-2 will be dismissed at 11:35 a.m.
Students in Grades 3-5 will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m.
Pre-K 102 will be dismissed at 11:25 a.m.
No school for students who attend the morning pre-k program. Students in the afternoon
pre-k program will attend 8:10-10:40 a.m.
All parents are requested to be on time to pick up their child/children.
School Learning Environment Surveys
The annual School Learning Environment Survey, conducted by the New York City Department
of Education, will be given to each family during the Parent/Teacher conferences. We ask that
all families complete the survey either before or after the teacher conference. Computers will be
available for families who wish to complete the application on-line. Ms. Tannenbaum, Ms.
Discala and I will be available to answer questions. Your feedback is important!
Children born between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009, who will be turning four years
of age during 2013, are eligible to participate in a pre-kindergarten program. To apply for this
program, parents must complete the application. The application and further information can be
found at www.nyc.gov/schools/prk. Please note that the application must be received by the
Department of Education by April 5, 2013 and there is no guarantee of a placement in a
New York State Assessments
Students in grades 3-5 will take the New York State English Language Arts assessment on
April 16, 17 and 18, 2013. The mathematics assessment is scheduled for April 24, 25 and
Self-Sustaining After-School Program
The last session of the winter After-School Self-Sustaining Program is Friday, March 22, 2013.
The spring session will begin on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. Registration information will be
sent home with your child.

video program featuring actors reading children’s books aloud.
Story Time for Me is a FREE online children’s book library designed specifically for children in
elementary school, allowing them to read and listen to enjoyable, online interactive picture
Oxford Owl – This website has over 250 FREE eBooks and different activities you can enjoy
with your child.
Raz Kids – The school has a subscription and your child has received the user name needed to
get on the site from his/her teacher. This site has interactive ebooks and reading quizzes.
