In 1957, well-known actor Billy Barty made a national public appeal for all little people in America to join him for a gathering in Reno, Nevada. Mr. Barty and 20 other little people joined together for a week of sharing and learning that they were not alone in facing the challenges of dwarfism. The Little People of America Organization was born! Today, Little People of America is the largest organization in the world devoted to people of short stature, and has more than 5,000 members and assists in the formation of related groups throughout the world. Little People of America, Inc. (LPA) assists people with dwarfism, with their physical and developmental concerns resulting from short stature. By providing medical, environmental, educational, vocational, and parental guidance, short-statured individuals and their families may enhance their lives and lifestyles with minimal limitations. Through peer support and personal example, our members are supportive of all those who reach out to LPA. Lastly, by networking with national and international growthrelated and genetic-support groups, LPA will enhances the knowledge and support of short-statured individuals.

Attn: Manager, Thank you for your time. I am a member of the Utah chapter of Little People of America (LPA). LPA is a nationally registered, non-profit organization created for people with dwarfism, and their families. Our local chapter hosts monthly activities for our members. At our events one is sure to see the usual: child and adult activities, food, games, and socializing with others that have the same differences as our selves. Each year we receive donations from local businesses to support our chapter. Along with these wonderful donations, we also do fundraising throughout the year. We use these donations to fund scholarships, medical grants, National dues, as well as local, regional, and national LPA events for our local members. Our group provides the social networking needed for families of a child with special needs. Giving them support, friendship, and access to information about their differences. We are excited to be able to provide several scholarships and grants each year to needing families and individuals, totaling more than several thousand dollars. Our Utah Chapter currently has over 80 members and our numbers are growing. Due to local fundraising and awareness we are able to reach new members and families sooner. This helps to increase the knowledge of dwarfism and other disabilities to the local community. Our group also helps to give the parents and children access to doctors and specialists though the Little People of America. We are writing to your company in request of a donation to our local chapter. We understand the financial woes of the economy this year and appreciate your consideration. All donations made to the Utah Chapter of LPA stay right here in Utah to assist our local members and families, as well as covering the costs of our events. Some of our most successful donation items received has been: Monetary Donations, Gift Baskets, Hotel stays, and Gift Certificates. Any marketing items you may have will be used in our yearly summer fundraiser and silent auctions; and would be greatly appreciated. We would be privilege to promote your business. If are able to assist us with our fundraising efforts this year, we would greatly appreciate it. Little People of America is a registered non-profit organization and would be happy to supply you with an UT Tax-ID number as needed.
