Welcome to all of you From Dave Pickens Event Director Hello and greetings to all our old friends as well as welcome to those new to the AAU Chinese Martial Arts Division. Our best and warmest wishes go out to each of you for a great time Masters, Instructors, Competitors, and Families alike. I t gives me great pleasure to extend to you an invitation to attend the United States National Kung Fu and Tai Chi Championships set for the AAU Chinese Martial Arts Division for 2009 that will be held in Round Rock/Austin, Texas on Saturday August 22, 2009. No matter if it’s your first time to come to Texas or you are an old friend we offer a warm “Texas Howdy Partner”…No we do not all really talk like that, but our hearts are warm and friendly and we will be glad to show you our hospitality!
Note this year will have some changes,
The evening Main Event will feature exhibitions by the days advanced forms champions, the finals of the advance applications divisions will be decided, along with some world renowned Masters doing demonstrations and some outstanding recognition awards for pioneers in our art. You may want to get in early to take part in our “workshops “in the park on Sunday.
Due to the down turn in the economy we are holding our Tai Chi Group and Kung Fu group competition with a different twist! We will be accepting video presentation of your group beginning on June 1 through August 10, 2009. The videos will be judged and the winners will be notified on August 15th their presentations will be on display at the tournament on monitors. Afterwards they will be featured on our youtube page. Note have your school do a 3 minute min – 4 minute max demo send it to us in the standard u tube format and send your team entry form and fee along with proof of AAU registration of each of the team members. This will cost $40 plus each member will have to furnish their member number in the AAU.
