 Tasks for Freak the Mighty Bingo
Objectives
1) Student will select one of each of the below activities to complete from a row,
diagonal, column or four corners.

Activities
1) Mini-research Students will research a topic utilizing two different internet
sources, then write a paragraph (5-7 sentences) of their opinion about the topic

2) Extension activity-1 pager Students will write a one page reflection on their
chosen topic with support from the following possible sources: classroom novel,
personal experience, internet sources, interviews

3) Creative sequence activity Students will construct an accordion book or a
main idea belt following the sequence of events in the novel

4) Graphic activity Student will create a graphic representation of some aspect of
the novel-crossword puzzle, timeline, Venn diagram or map

Crossword Puzzle-select 20 of Freak's words. Go to puzzlemaker.com
and construct your puzzle. Print.

Timeline-create a time line using information from all of the chapters. For each
Chapter, create a thumbnail illustration. Color

Venn Diagram-compare Freak and Max. (5 similarities and 5 differences for a
total of 15 entries.)

Main Idea Belt

Directions
1. After you have finished reading a book, brainstorm five significant events in the plot (or five stages of character
development).

2. Using cups or a compass (or any circular object), trace six “larger” circles on black paper or any colored paper and
twelve “smaller: circles on white paper. The exact sizes are not critical; the white circles should fit inside the black
ones. Cut these out.

3. Glue a white circle to each side of each black circle.

4. Think of a symbol to use as a border around the edge of one of the white circles on each disk.

5. On the first disk, write the title and author of the book inside the symbolic border. On the back write your name.

6. On the remaining five disks, create an illustration inside the symbolic border to depict each of the main events.

7. On the back of each of these five disks write a sentence to describe the main event and another sentence to
explain its importance to the story.

8. Then tie them together using string or yarn




Accordion Book
Directions: Choose five significant scenes from your book. Make an illustrated accordion-shaped
book that reveals the sequence of your book's storyline. Include quotes and some written
descriptions that explain, such as: What's happening in the scene? Why is this scene important
