Under the administrative direction of the Director of Information Technology Services (ITS) with technical
guidance provided by the Senior Technology Infrastructure Specialists, the incumbent is responsible for
the design, deployment and support of all backend technologies within the Information Technology
Services product portfolio. This includes but is not restricted to Server Hardware, Operating Systems
(Windows, Solaris, Linux), Storage Area Networks, Backup and Recovery Technologies, Microsoft File
Management Services, e-mail (Exchange), Web Infrastructure, and Cisco wired and wireless networks.
This is an extremely technical position requiring a huge breadth of technical knowledge and experience.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
Provide Email support backend server support (Exchange 2007)
Installation, maintenance and support of Windows 2003 r2 and Windows server 2008 r2 server
Active Directory Administration (including Account, File, Directory and security provisioning)
including the creation of security reports for the administration of the college.
Backup and recovery operations including the scheduling and planning of system recovery tests.
Barracuda Anti spam administration
Physical cable management and supervision / documentation of both fibre and copper cabling
Completion of a three year college diploma in Information Technology or a related area of study,
combined with at least 3 years of recent experience working in an infrastructure support role;
A solid understanding of and experience with at least 4 of the following technologies.
o Email support (Exchange 2007 or 2010)
o Windows 2003 r2 and Windows server 2008 r2 and Redhat enterprise Linux
o Active Directory Administration
o Cisco active network component configuration (including routing, VLAN’s, VPN)
o Account, File, Directory and security provisioning
o Backup operations (Comm Vault, Networker)
o Barracuda Administration
o Server Virtualization (Hyper-V / VmWare)
