PROCEDURES FOR PROFESSIONAL STAFF REQUESTING A TRANSFER For the 2013-2014 School Year NO VOLUNTARY TRANSFER WILL BE CONSIDERED UNTIL TEACHERS WHO HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS SURPLUS ARE PLACED. A PROFESSIONAL STAFF MEMBER REQUESTING A TRANSFER IS ENCOURAGED TO DISCUSS THE REQUEST WITH THEIR PRINCIPAL/SUPERVISOR PRIOR TO COMPLETING THE TRANSFER REQUEST FORM. I. The Professional Staff Request for Transfer form must be completed entirely and accurately and returned to the building principal for his/her signature. Requests after the deadline date may be considered only for critical needs areas or where unusual, extenuating circumstances exist. II. Please note that any teacher on a PDAS Intervention Plan for performance deficiencies or on a reduced contract may not be considered for a transfer. Teachers new to the district may not apply for a transfer until the spring of the second full school year of employment. III. The regular application process should be followed for employees interested in changing to a different type of position on a higher pay grade (i.e. teacher to counselor); however, a counselor interested in a teaching position may request a voluntary transfer. IV. Teachers desiring reassignment within the building should not fill out a Request for Transfer form. A request for reassignment within the campus should be made directly to the building principal for his/her consideration, rather than to the Human Resource Office. V. Teachers requesting a transfer are responsible for verifying on the form their current teaching certification. Note that the district can only consider teachers for positions for which they are currently certified following all State Board for Educator Certification guidelines and Highly Qualified following all federal and state guidelines. VI. Teachers desiring to transfer from the elementary level to the middle school level should contact Paige Acevedo via email at firstname.lastname@example.org prior to the completion of the transfer form to determine if they are eligible to teach on the middle school level. VII. A list of persons requesting transfers will be sent to all building principals for review and reference after all surplus teachers have been placed. VIII. Persons on the transfer list should contact principals in writing only. Resumes or other pertinent written information may be sent to principals of campuses where the teacher desires to transfer. Building principals will select who they choose to interview. IX. No transfers will be made after June 17, 2013 unless both principals agree to the transfer. As a general rule, no transfers will be made during the school year.
