TYRONE BOROUGH RESIDENTS: Christmas trees will be picked up in the Borough on Monday & Tuesday, January 12 & 13. Trees must be placed curbside by 7 am. Trees must be free from all decorations. Trees with tree stands and/or in tree bags will not be picked up! HOLLIDAYSBURG BOROUGH RESIDENTS: The Borough will pick-up discarded live Christmas trees during the week of January 5, Monday - Friday. Please have trees curbside by 7 am. No Christmas tree disposal bags, decorations or ornaments, please!

LOGAN TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS: Please bring undecorated live Christmas trees to the Municipal Building (800 - 39th St., Altoona) from December 29 to January 16. No ornaments, lights, tree stands, plastic bags, etc., can be accepted! Signs at the entrance will indicate where the trees are to be placed. BLAIR COUNTY RESEARCH & DEMONSTRATION COMPOST FACILITY: Undecorated and live Christmas trees are accepted for recycling. No ornaments, lights, tree stands, plastic bags, artificial trees, etc. can be accepted. The facility also accepts leaves, grass clippings, trimmings from trees, bushes and shrubs. The facility’s hours are: Tuesday, January 6th and 13th from Noon till 4:00 pm and Saturday, January 10th, 9:00 am till Noon. The Research & Demonstration facility is located along Old Route 220 S, at the fenced lot a quarter mile past Inlow’s Restaurant. BLAIR COUNTY YARD WASTE COMPOST RECYCLING FACILITY: Undecorated live Christmas trees may be dropped off at the Blair County Composting Facility located on the Buckhorn. Hours for the Compost Facility are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8 am to 4 pm. There is never a fee for Christmas tree drop-off. Directions to the Compost Facility: from Altoona, take Route 36 North to Skyline Drive. Make a right turn onto Skyline Drive then a quick left turn onto Blacksnake Road. The Compost Facility is located about ¼ mile down Blacksnake Road. This facility also accepts, aluminum cans, automotive batteries, hardback & paperback books, CDs, DVDs, cell phones, cooking oil, corrugated cardboard, fluorescent bulbs, inkjet printer cartridges, junk mail, office paper, magazines & catalogs, newspapers & phonebooks, #1 & #2 plastic bottles & jugs, rechargable batteries, steel cans, used oil filters, used motor oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, aluminum lawn furniture, aluminum storm doors, aluminum framed windows/screens, plasic buckets, playground equipment, 55 gallon drums, vinyl siding, vinyl fence, vinyl decking, dry-cleaning bags, clear shopping bags, clear stretch wrap, #5 plasic flower pots & trays, souvenir cups, individual CD cases, 3 & 5 gallon water jugs and plexiglass.
