Location
The conference will be held at TIBA ROSE HOTEL which is 10 kms due east of Cairo city centre and 6 kms from Cairo Airport. The hotel is close to Heliopolis and to Nasr City the newly developed suburb. It is situated in attractive grounds with recreational activities. The hotel is air-conditioned and well equipped to hold the scientific activities of the conference.
General Information
Cairo is the capital of Egypt (cradle of civilization) is well known for its heritage from Pharonic, Roman, Coptic, Islamic and modern eras. The Pyramids and Sphinx stand witness of the early civilization. The Egyptian museum exhibits some of the treasures of this civilization. Some of the oldest Coptic churches, including the famous Suspended (Mollaka) Church ( 4 th century) and the Coptic museum are interesting places to visit. Cairo is often called the city of the 1000 minarets. Mosques of Amr Ibn El Aas (1st in Africa), Al-Azhar (Fatimides), Sultan Hassan (Mamluki), Mohamed Aly, and the Islamic museum are some of the wonderful Islamic places to look at. The old city is famous for its oriental bazaars like Khan El-Khalili where traditional hand-made items are sold. Sakkara is 35 km to the south, where the 1 st step Pyramid is situated . Weather in Cairo is pleasant at this time of the year (January). Temperature ranges between 10o C and 20o C. Slight rain may occur during January. Currency The national currency is the Egyptian Pound (₤.E.) . (1₤.E. = 100 Piastres). 1 US$ 3.4 ₤.E. Currency exchange is possible in any bank or at Currency Exchange offices. Hotels usually have branches of principal banks. Credit Cards are used in a limited way, but not as widely as in Europe or the United States. Visas Entry visas should be obtained from the nearest Egyptian consulate. However in emergencies, they may be granted at the airport .

An excursion will be offered by the conference organized on Tuesday 18 Jan, to visit historical monuments in Cairo and nearby cites .
Contributed Papers: Preparation and Submission of Summaries
Contributed papers in all aspects of the conference will be accepted after receiving for presentation. Summaries may be submitted by mail in camera ready form conforming to the format laid in the attached sheet. - The deadline for receiving of summaries is 31 Oct. 1999. - Decision on paper acceptance will be sent by 15 Nov. 1999. The Proceedings of the conference will be published in early 2000.
