Oliver Wight to Present at Mastering SAP Financials 2013
Joining leading financial and planning professionals from across the world, business
improvement specialists, Oliver Wight, will present on the benefits of efficient annual
planning processes at the Mastering SAP Financials in Sydney 13-15 May.
Designed for financial professionals using SAP in their organisation, the 3-day conference will
address current challenges and provide advice on how to get the most from financial tools
and their corresponding processes. Oliver Wight’s presentation ‘Making Annual Planning a
Significant Non-Event’, will be given by Stuart Harman, Partner at Oliver Wight Asia Pacific,
on day one of the event.
“Company leaders are increasingly concluding that traditional annual planning and budgeting
processes are simply inadequate to effectively manage a business in today’s dynamic
environment,” says Harman. “However, most still spend an inordinate amount of time and
resources on antiquated, ineffective annual planning and budgeting processes.”
Harman’s presentation will cover why the traditional model for annual budgeting is insufficient
to operate the business and how time can be more valuably spent on true scenario planning
using Integrated Business Planning (advanced S&OP).
“As more companies advance their S&OP processes into fully integrated business planning
processes, many are starting to realise the benefit of more credible and reliable assumptions
driving the operating and financial plans. Regularly and routinely updating monthly plans,
aligning and sychnronising them from top to bottom, not only minimises and eliminates
financial surprises, but saves the business time and money.”
Mastering SAP Financials is held at Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific, Austraila. More

About Oliver Wight
Oliver Wight has a 40 year track record of delivering business improvement to some of the world’s best-
known organisations. With a team of professionals offering a wealth of experience, Oliver Wight is the
largest consultancy of its type, with offices throughout Europe, South Africa, North and South America,
and the Asia Pacific region. We believe that sustainable business improvement can’t be delivered by
external consultants but only by our clients’ own people, so unlike other consultancy firms, we transfer
our knowledge to them, helping deliver performance levels and financial results that last.
Integrated Business Planning
At the leading edge of management thinking and practice, our Integrated Business Planning (IBP) model
lies at the heart of our clients’ journey to outstanding business performance. Oliver Wight are the
originators of sales and operations planning (S&OP) and IBP can most simply be described as
advanced S&OP. However, unlike S&OP, IBP brings a truly strategic perspective, integrating diverse
processes - in the extended supply chain, product and customer portfolios, customer demand and
strategic planning - into one seamless management process.
Supply Chain Optimisation
In an uncertain business climate, volatile demand and unpredictability can expose weaknesses in supply
chain performance. Supply Chain Optimisation helps companies improve sub-standard systems and
processes, delivering a significant return to the bottom line.
Meeting the Class A Standard
The Oliver Wight Class A Checklist is the longest standing and most successful business assessment
tool. The latest, Sixth Edition, raises the bar, and sets ever more demanding standards for companies
on their journey to business excellence and the Oliver Wight Class A standard.
