                              OPEN RECRUITMENT

                               Applications are now being accepted for a
                                   COMPUTER SPECIALIST I
                                       Full-Time Regular Position

APPLICANTS MUST MEET MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION AS ADVERTISED AT TIME OF APPLICATION.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:          High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate's Degree in Management Information
                    Systems, data processing, computer science, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:         At least three years of experience working with computers and troubleshooting techniques;
                    or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required
                    knowledge, skills, and abilities.
SPECIAL JOB
DIMENSIONS:         Knowledge of: personal and mainframe computer operations; the functions and applicability
                    of various software packages; technical operation of computer hardware; general computer
                    maintenance procedures and repair techniques; general phone system administration; and
                    purchasing laws and procedures, especially as they relate to City operations; web design and
                    document conversion.
                    Skill/Ability to: troubleshoot, analyze and repair hardware, software and systems; prepare
                    reports neatly and accurately; read and interpret manuals and instructions on installation and
                    operation of hardware and software; demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written
                    communication; operate personal computer, associated software, telephone, magnetic tape
                    unit, calculator, fax, and cathode ray tube (CTR); and establish and maintain effective
                    working relationships with department heads, other City personnel, and vendors.
WORKING
CONDITIONS:         Office environment. Travel between City buildings. Limited outside work.

JOB SUMMARY:        Troubleshoots, analyzes, and repairs various mainframe computer, networks, stand-alone
                    PCs and phone systems. Provide technical assistance to the users of City hardware and
                    software products. Provide assistance, support, and advice to end users with daily, weekly,
                    monthly, and periodic data backups on all systems. Provides web design and document
                    conversion.

SALARY/WAGE:        Hourly rate $14.4165 – 14.8490 DOQ
