Dear Pastor Jan, I was raised in a Roman Catholic - alcoholic home; with drunk priests, and very abusive nuns and family members. I just couldn’t find my way out of a tortured conscience. I worked 12 step programs for 14 years and after quitting one addiction, another would soon take hold of me. I simply switched rooms in the Titanic. I was searching for the truth and relief from the weight and guilt of sin. Then, after calling out for help to the “real” God - to please show Himself, I was led to our local thrift shop. After rooting through some junk, I found a book. It felt electrified in my hands. I knew that that book was the reason that I was sent to the thrift shop. I couldn’t put it down. I devoured it like a starving person devours food. I made a deal with Jesus, that I would start keeping His Sabbath if He would deliver me from my addictions. I kept my part of the bargain right away by keeping His Sabbath along with all of God’s commandments, by His grace. Within three weeks, I was free of all my addictions. I left AA, and all of the 12 step {Roman Catholic} programs. I was baptized as a Seventh-day Adventist. Now I am very happy. Though I was shocked to find that most church members are food addicts in a stupor who are no different from the world, and that both the pastor and the members speak smooth things, give Sunday type sermons, that almost no one accepts health reform, or dress reform, and that they have strongly warned me against quoting from the Spirit of Prophecy; and have tried to stop me from reaching the people with the very 3 angels’ messages that God used to save me, and that He commanded His SDA church to give to the world, yet, all of this doesn’t stop me from doing God’s work. I’m on fire for God. I give out National Sunday Law books by the hundreds wherever I go. I leave them in racks in supermarkets, in doctor’s offices, hospitals, benches, phone booths, health clubs, diners, in rest rooms [right under the toilet is a good place - where people have nothing else to do except pick it up and read it]. I get up at 3 or 4 a.m. to pray and study God’s word. I’m on fire to get God’s saving message out so that He can save precious souls. So today I got your newsletter which mentioned the “40 Million Man March.” Praise God! It was an answer to my prayer. It was so encouraging! I am willing to put my money on the altar for God, and keep just enough to live on. I have many obstacles, but our strong God is able to knock them down. All I know is that I want to reach souls.
