Officers First and foremost, I want to thank Jackie & Jerry Holst for the incredible donation they gave to our club. They
donated a driving school package to be auctioned, with the funds going to our club. This donation allowed our
President club to complete the purchase of one acre at the NCM Motorsports Park. The remaining funds were placed into
Marty Ott our club bank account. Congratulations to Jim and Barbara Buckley for providing the winning bid for the
469-8598 auction.

VP–Competitive I would also like to send out a big thanks to Charles Long for his continuing support to our club. He made a
Activities very generous donation of key chains and drink cozies, which will be used at Vettes Doin Charleston event this
Gary Warriner year. Last but not least, I would like to thank Ed Lipman for the “NASCAR Experience” donation. The
576-4863 “NASCAR Experience” will be raffled at the Vettes Doin Charleston show. These donations are great examples
and really show what our club means to the members. These selfless acts are really appreciated and do not go
VP – Social unnoticed.
Activities
It’s that time of year - show season is here and we are getting ready for it. Not only for our club, but shows in
Regina Johnson
the low country area and all over the East coast. On April 20th, we have our Vettes Doin Charleston show,
559-8830
which is the best Corvette show on the East coast. We need all of our club members to come out, show their
cars, dig in and help. We also have our meet and greet on April 19th and need club members to help in this
VP – Membership
event too. The club needs your help with door prizes, so any car related things you like, would make great door
Christine Van Leir prizes for Vettes Doin Charleston.

February may have been a cold month, but it did not keep the Corvettes in the garage. We had two fun events
Secretary that had great turnouts - Kelly BBQ and the Sonic cruise. If you missed these events, you missed a great time
Liz Furmanek and I hope to see you out the next time. With the restart of our Facebook page voted in on Sunday by the club,
569-2458 you will be able to see more pictures and any spur of the moment event info just like the Sonic cruise. This will
be an information page only, so you will not be able to post anything on it. Christine Van Leir and I will be the
Treasurer administrators of the Facebook page. If you want to post something, just send us a message.

We are only a little over a month away from our Vettes Doing Charleston Show. As you all know, this is our premier show
and requires quite a bit of effort to organize and conduct. We are still in need of volunteers to help with the Meet and Greet
and the Show. Help is needed for the following:

Meet and Greet - Setup and Cleanup

VDC Show - Parking, Registration Table, Ballot Counting, Museum Table, and Judges

Volunteering to work at the show is a great way to support the club as well as getting to know your fellow members. If you
wish to volunteer you can sign up at the next meeting or you can e-mail either Kim Sheldon or Gary Warriner.

Additionally, we need at least 50 door prizes, these should be worth approximately $20 and be car related. Remember most
of the participants will need to take them home in their Corvette so size should be considered. The door prizes can be
brought to the next meeting or to the show. Paula Jones is collecting the door prizes.

I look forward to seeing all of you at this event.

Things are really coming together for our VDC show this year. Our final planning meeting will be at our April club meeting
at 2pm. Please feel free to join in. We currently have 75 pre-registrants for the show from 7 different states and Canada!

There is still ample opportunity to sign up to bring food for the Friday evening Meet and Greet and to help out at the show.
The sign-up sheets will be available at the April meeting. If you are unable to attend and want to make sure you are a part
of this great event feel free to contact me.

We are still in need of club members to help our guests get parked at the show, judge cars in the judged portion of the
show, count ballots and help out at the NCM sales tables.

Last minute information will be sent out in the April newsletter such as the times to arrive at the Meet and Greet and what
time to be at the show. Emails will be sent out re: the judging education session for those who sign up to be judges.

We are in need of door prizes, really in need of door prizes. We need to have at least 50 door prizes on the day of the show.
As of our March club meeting Paula Jones had collected 5. These door prizes need to be a value of approximately $20.00.
Car products and gifts are always a hit. Just remember, most of our guests have traveled so don’t donate a gift that is too
large. For every door prize you contribute to this show your name will be entered into a $100.00 gift certificate drawing. So
the more you contribute the greater opportunity to be the winner of this gift certificate. Paula is chairing the door prize
committee so please give your door prizes to her. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Paula.

We have a NASCAR driving experience give away at our silent auction at the show - thanks to Ed Lipman for the donation!
This should be a great draw.

There will be much more information at our April meeting as well as the April newsletter so please stay tuned.

This show is the largest we have every year. We have had great success with this show and have received many
compliments every year. I am certain that 2013 will be no different. We appreciate everyone helping with the planning and
the Meet and Greet and the show! It is you that makes this show possible and so successful.

Our next planning meeting is at 2:00 pm on Sunday April 7th before the club social time and club business meeting begins.
We welcome all club members and spouses to attend. A little of your time, your ideas and your participation is all we
ask!

Let’s make our 2013 VDC Show our Best Yet!

On Saturday, April 6th we will be cruising to Myrtle Beach to visit the Wheels of Yesteryear Museum followed by lunch at
Ruby Tuesday. The museum showcases over 50 classic cars. Admission to the museum is $7.00, and they ask that we
have correct change if possible. We will meet near the new Wal-Mart in Mt. Pleasant at 9:15 am and pull out promptly at
9:30 am. If you plan to attend and did not sign up at the meeting, or if you did sign up but will be unable to attend, please
send me an email at gorkajohnson@aol.com or VPSocial@4cccc.org so that I can give an accurate count to the museum and
restaurant.

In May, on Saturday the 18th, we will have lunch followed by a 90 minute Charleston Harbor tour. Watch for the sign up
sheet at the April meeting.

Our cruise to Daniel Island for dinner at Queen Anne’s Revenge on Saturday, March 9th was a huge success. 46 club
members joined us for a great dinner on a beautiful afternoon!

Coming in June… Join us dinner at Red’s Ice House on Seabrook Island.

Land at the museum is being cleared for the construction to begin this summer for the Autocross and skid pad at the NCM
Motorsport Park. The project committee is working with the designers on the track layout & included in the plans will be to
keep some of the current elevations of the land. This should make for an awesome track!
The last C6 rolled off the assembly line at the plant in Bowling Green on Thursday February 28th at 8:04 am. The plant is
now shut down for the assembly line to be retooled for the C7 to be built. Plant workers are slated to return to work on
March 25th and begin their education of building the new C7.
20th Anniversary NCM Caravan is August 28-30, 2014. Several members of our club will participate, plan on a week for
travel time to Bowling Green and back home. If you are interested and have questions, several members have participated
in previous NCM caravans and would be happy to talk with you.
Upcoming VIR HPDE (high performance driving event) is scheduled for June 24-25. Please contact Jim Furmanek for more
information. Harry Pointon and Jim both have registered to attend. This will fill up fast so please do not wait if interested.
Last but certainly not least….. Thank you to Jackie Holst who was the owner of a certificate to Spring Mountain Driving
School and auctioned it off at our March meeting. She donated the proceeds to the NCM towards the CCCC purchase of the
acre at the Motorsport Park and the remainder of the money she donated to the club.
Jackie’s contribution paid off the CCCC acre!!!! We are now members of the One Acre Club and owners of an acre at the
Motorsport Park. For new members of those not aware, the cost of an acre was $15,000 which CCCC earned thru our
Vettes Doin Charleston shows and Jackie made our last contribution to complete the payments.
Please remember that you can make individual donations to the NCM via the purchase of a brick, raffle tickets, membership
or just a monetary donation of any size. NCM is a not for profit which depends on contributions for its existence. There is
no support from GM to the NCM.
If you make a contribution or purchase a brick, take delivery of new car (in the future) at the NCM or do the NCM
Experience please let me know! For membership information please see the NCM website.
The NCM is beginning a Motorsports Park monthly enewsletter that will be called Track Time. To subscribe to this
newsletter go to this site: http//www.corvettemuseum.org/ncmenews/index.shtml.

One Acre Club Spotlight: Carolinas & Virginia Corvette Caravan

Corvette enthusiasts from the Carolina's & Virginia Corvette Caravan have committed to joining our “One Acre Club” as a
part of their ongoing support for the National Corvette Museum. As one of the 29 caravan groups participating in the 2014
NCM Caravan, members of this leg hail from various parts of North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Their journey in
the 2014 National event will begin in Concord, North Carolina and end in Bowling Green, Kentucky for fun Corvette
festivities at the Museum.

Many of the Carolina's & Virginia Corvette Caravan participants are Lifetime Members of the Museum, and have
participated in past Caravans and other Museum events. “We are very excited to be able to involve all of our members and
participate in this project,” said Caravan Captain Frank Sancineto. “We hope that our contribution will set a trend for other
Caravan groups to do the same!”

The National Corvette Museum Caravans have become an integral part of today’s Corvette culture. This nationwide caravan
was organized in 1994 to celebrate the opening of the National Corvette Museum and again in 1999 to commemorate the
NCM’s 5th anniversary celebration. In 2003, a 3rd National Caravan was organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the
Corvette Marque. The 2009 National Corvette Caravan was held to celebrate the NCM’s 15th Anniversary. The 5th National

Chuck Sheldon, Local Leader for Charleston, SC

The meeting was called to order at 3pm by Marty Ott, President. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and a moment of
silence was held. New member, Mark Narowski (Jane Kerhoulas-2004 Magnetic Red) was recognized. New member Ray
Caulder (Susan—2012 Grand Sport) was also present. Allen Gramet from Fanny Mat did a presentation. If you are
interested in purchasing a Fanny Mat, let Chuck Sheldon know. Regina Johnson, VP of Social, reported that, despite the
rain, 30+ cars attended the event at Kelly’s BBQ. Twenty six cars attended the cruise-in to three Sonics restaurants in the
area. The next social event will be a club dinner at Queen Anne’s Revenge. April social events include a trip to Myrtle
Beach to visit the “Wheels of Yesteryear” museum. Marty reported that he and a few other club members attended a Car
Club Council meeting to meet with other area car clubs to organize a car show calendar. He pointed out that other clubs
utilize multi-media to provide information and encourage membership and participation. Marty discussed the Facebook
page that the club had, but has been locked down. Marty proposed that the Facebook page be reopened for the purpose of
providing information only. There would be no ability for others to post comments. Two administrators would monitor and
update the page. The decision to reopen the Facebook page was voted upon and passed by the members present. Chuck
Sheldon gave the treasurers report. He reminded members of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 16th. Chuck also
thanked member, Charles Long, for his yearly contribution of numerous Metro Electric koozies and key chains for our
“Street Thunder” show. This year, Charles will be contributing the koozies and key chains for the “Vettes Doin’ Charleston”
show. Chuck provided information about the 2014 Caravan and pointed out that caravan participants can make
contributions towards an acre of the Motorsports Park. The membership report was given by Christine Van Leir.

                                                                                                                         8
We had two new members join making a total of 67 members—117 with spouses and partners. Christine reported that the
CCCC is listed in the East Cooper Meals on Wheels quarterly report as a 2012 Community Partner with $999 worth of
donations. Gary Warriner, VP of Competition, reported that upcoming competition events will be posted on the club website.
He reported that parking lay-out for the VDC show is on his agenda and encouraged club members to volunteer to do
parking at the show. Kim Sheldon, “Vettes Doin’ Charleston” chairperson, sent around sign-up sheets for volunteers to
participate in the running of the show and also encouraged club members to participate. VDC shirts are available to club
members for $10 until the end of March. Kim, also the NCM Ambassador, acknowledged Jason Merriweather for his
individual NCM membership and the 10 year anniversaries of NCM membership for Harry and Cheryl Pointon and Chuck
and Kim Sheldon. Barb Ditmore, VDC Meet and Greet chairperson, sent around sign-up sheets to provide food for the
event. Paula Jones, door prize chairperson, reported that 50 additional door prizes are needed for the VDC show. Jim and
Barbara Buckley were the winners of the Level One Three Day Certificate at the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School
with the highest bid of $2150. The 50/50 winner was Beth Cosimano.
