RESEARCH REFLECTS GROWTH IN HOME ENTERTAINING
According to research from Butterfly Occasions women organising their own party celebrations are not only generous with their entertainment offerings but also keen to go the extra mile with a view to creating something different. A recent survey conducted by Butterfly Occasions echoes predictions of growth in the home entertaining market across Europe as we continue to investigate ways to put our own unique stamp on celebrations. By 2006, Datamonitor* predicts the market will grow from the billion euros it is currently worth as the dinner party culture continues to evolve. The UK in particular is noted for rapid growth in the home entertaining trend. Over the last two years British consumers have remained third on the list for the number of parties, with 313 million gatherings per year, behind Germany (539 million) and Italy (327 million). By 2006, however, it is predicted the UK will have moved to second position. While the British spend on average €67.79 per party, only France spends more at €78.30 per party. We appear to enjoy hosting our own events as 58% of respondents to the Butterfly Occasions survey entertain at home or in a private hired space more than 4 times a year with a further 28% entertaining 3 or 4 times a year. 42% of respondents prefer to socialise at a home or private gathering as opposed to a pub or restaurant. We want to add special touches and make an effort with our celebrations – 50% of respondents to the survey would consider hiring a mobile bar or bartender and 86% purchase special lighting for their parties to create the right atmosphere. Our privately hosted events serve a purpose – 57% of respondents believe a party or celebration is a more successful way than a bar or pub to be introduced to a partner, friend or business contact.
As a result of the research findings, Butterfly Occasions aims to supply party-hosts and brides to be with products to create an event that is modern, unique and imaginative through the use of good lighting and decoration, thoughtful favours and fun ideas.
