POSITION: Associate Director, Executive MBA (EMBA) Career Development
Working with the Director of Sloan Fellows, EMBA, and Alumni Career Development, the
Associate Director, Executive MBA Career Development sets the strategy and delivers
all aspects of career development for approximately 120 students in the Executive MBA
Program. The Associate Director instructs, counsels, and advises the EMBAs regarding
their long-term career development; and designs and delivers programming, in person,
by phone, and over the web, to support all EMBAs in achieving their career management
objectives. The Associative Director, Executive MBA (EMBA) Career Development will
serve as a member of a team of diverse career professionals serving multiple MIT Sloan
student and alumni populations and will provide services in concert with and as part of
the portfolio of services offered by the CDO.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide individual career advising and counseling of EMBA students, delivered in
person and by phone, to formulate their personal career development plans.
Provide a broad portfolio of specialized topics related to career development,
including the executive level job search process, which EMBAs can select to tailor
their career development plans. These may be delivered in person and by means of
topical webinars and other electronic media programming; and via web based
Deliver group sessions which convey general frameworks and materials related to
career development. Create and coordinate workshop design and delivery with CDO
and EMBA program offices.
Obtain and review feedback on services, workshop offerings and content and
proposes alternate services to meet student needs.
Manage career management/development for EMBA students. Develop and
coordinate the EMBA career management program calendar. Manage and
coordinate logistics of programs, resources and web-based services.
Initiate and build relationships with key faculty, staff, alumni, and outside consultants
in order to develop successful programs designed to enhance the career
Offer input on the design of feedback and evaluation instrument to assess the quality
and scope of services; review feedback on services, workshop offerings and content,
and propose alternate services to meet EMBA students’ needs.
Represent MIT Sloan at appropriate industry conferences, for example, the EMBA

Liaise with other members of the CDO team to deliver services as appropriate.
Support services provided to Sloan Fellows and alumni, as requested.
The ideal candidate will possess an advanced degree, with an M.B.A. strongly
preferred, along with a minimum of 10 years of prior work experience.
Significant previous experience in career counseling, leadership development or
coaching, coupled with significant industry experience highly valued.
Deep knowledge of business and business careers.
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, including presenting
information to small and large groups.
Experience/exposure to high-potential executives and talent management programs
in mid-size to large firms (primarily in the U.S.) strongly preferred.
Previous experience/familiarity with high potential mid-career managers with 10-20
years of experience focused on supporting their individual career development and
goal setting highly desirable.

This position reports to the Director of Sloan Fellows, EMBA, and Alumni Career
Development for operational, day-to-day management, and has a consultative
relationship to the Director of the EMBA Program for overall direction of the services
portfolio to be offered.
