HOSANNA GNU LINUX Computer System
Hi Hosanna Family, I just want to first thank God for the things that he has done in my life this week and the passion he has given me. I would also like to thank each and every one of my Hosanna brothers and sisters for the encouragement and support that I have received on Sunday for Hosanna Gnu/Linux. You can access it from Internet Explorer or Firefox from : http://webchat.freenode.net/ All you need is to come up with a username. Channel is : ##HGL-Remix (remember to type the channel name like this with the hash marks.) I would also like to thank Steve for getting the wallpaper and printing the cd's for us. Awesome job!! (I love saying Free!) Hosanna Gnu/Linux is a remix of Ubuntu Linux. A very popular and easy to use Linux distribution. It can run side by side with you windows computer if you still need some Windows applications. So when you boot up your computer you will have a choice of Windows or Hosanna. If you do it this way you can even access you files from Windows on Linux. So all your music and movies and pictures and documents are accessible from Linux. I also encourage you to check out the forums for Ubuntu at http://ubuntuforums.org/. This is one of the best places to get help. If you are having trouble chances are that you will find a fix for it here. Now for those that have asked about running Hosanna Gnu/Linux on machines that are gathering dust because of age. I was inspired by God and the turn out on Sunday so I have finished a second edition called Hosanna Gnu/Linux "LITE" which I have tested on a machine with 128MB of ram and 8GB hard drive. Basically it should run well on a machine that had Windows 98 on. It ran moderately well. If you have 256MB of ram then you will most certainly be in for a treat. It has with it email client similar to Outlook Express or Mac Mail,Opera Web Browser,GnuCash for budgeting and Abiword and Gnumeric for light word processing and spreadsheet application. Of course it also has Gnomesword for the study of His love and word. Remember this is a community project. You DO NOT have to be programmer or have a Ph. D in rocket science to contribute. You can help with graphics such as themes, documentation, ideas for the next release, bug reports (which just says what works and doesn't, or if a program crashed). I would like to have monthly (once a month) Hosanna User Group Meetings. These are just a way to discuss problems and open source software you might have and learn about your system and what you can do with your new freedom.
