Our aim is to be your energy efficiency systems integrator of choice and, as such, we put the emphasis on practical experience. Rather than rely on theoretical knowledge alone, we aim to ensure you maximize comfort levels and achieve savings by designing, installing and commissioning systems then measuring the results. Our History  ECOsystems was established in 1995 to "Save Energy and the Environment". Beginning in the education and fast food sectors, we now operate in all major sectors including commercial offices, institutions and Government. ECOsystems is now one of the largest energy efficiency systems integrators in New Zealand. We operate at the intersection of energy management and IT and work hard to ensure our systems promote comfort and are easy to use because we know from experience, only then, will the savings be maximised. Our Structure  ECOsystems has three main divisions; Smart Energy  Our Smart Energy division implements integrated energy efficiency projects for commercial clients. Firstly, an investment grade energy efficiency audit is completed to determine energy and maintenance savings and a fixed cost to install the project. We then work with Government and financial partners to obtain funding for our clients. Our team project manage the resulting energy efficiency upgrade and complete the commissioning. Once a project is complete we recommend an annual health check to confirm the savings continue to be achieved. We develop and offer a wide range of products and services to our customers to facilitate the integration of their IT and energy management systems for the purpose of reducing energy costs. ECOsystems offer: With a fresh innovative   approach, we operate as true   partners and work with our  clients to maximize comfort  and reduce energy use.  With a commitment to exceeding our clients’ expectations, we have achieved ‘on budget, on time’ at some of the largest projects in New Zealand and have a proven track record in managing multiple implementations throughout the country for corporate clients. Our approach is to build ongoing relationships with our corporate partners so you can be assured of our attention to your requirements. ECOsystems is a corporate member of the Energy Management Association of New Zealand (EMANZ) and The New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC). Our staff were part of the technical advisory group that developed the education rating tool for the NZGBC and are on the executive of EMANZ. With offices in Wellington and Auckland we operate throughout New Zealand. • • • Reduce your energy costs Simply control your lighting, IT, heating, cooling, appliances and hot water from a web browser Reduce harmful greenhouse gases (from far left)  Westpac Charter House  Auckland—MLS lighting control system,  Department of Conservation Boardroom and  Atrium Wellington—DALI C‐Bus lighting  control system and BMS integration  Building Intelligence  The Building Intelligence division is focused on partnering with electrical engineers, electrical contractors and building owners to design and implement effective lighting control to minimise energy use. We utilise a wide range of technologies including Clipsal C-Bus from Schneider, MLS from Exor in the UK and DALI. At ECOsystems we work with our partners to design the most energy efficient lighting control systems. We are usually a preferred supplier and work with the contractor who installs the product, to ensure the clients objectives are achieved. ECOsystems own staff program, commission and fine tune the controls to maximise energy savings. We welcome you to join us on our journey to save energy and the environment. With ECOsystems you can confidently outsource as much of your energy management as you require. Our People  Since 1995 we have been growing our specialised team of consultants and integrators with a focus on developing innovative approaches to energy efficiency and implementing practical energy efficiency measures. Our team currently consists of mechanical, electrical, controls and programming engineers as well as specialised electrical technicians. ECOsystems is committed to ongoing training, to ensure our team has an intimate knowledge of the systems we employ. We do this to ensure you get the results you need. For a brief resume of the ECOsystems team visit our website at www.eco.co.nz. Continuous Commissioning  The Continuous Commissioning division works with corporate and government clients, landlords and tenants in commercial office and institutional buildings to fine tune the building plant to minimise energy use while maximising comfort, security and financial return. The process begins with a detailed site survey and energy balance followed by a comprehensive analysis of the operation of the building’s physical plant. Energy pathways and metering systems are mapped. An internationally recognized International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMPV) plan is developed to monitor and verify savings. Once this information has been prepared, the ongoing continuous commissioning process begins. Energy tariffs and line charges are reviewed, existing plant, equipment and controls fine tuned and energy Fonterra Headquarters Auckland  conservation measures (ECM) identified. ECOsystems then works with our partners to obtain funding to perform the ECM and project manages the implementation, monitoring and verification of results. The team designed a system of lighting and sensors to optimise light levels and maximise energy efficiency. Light level sensors were installed throughout the building to detect available daylight levels and modulate the lighting within the building to compensate for light coming in from outside. As part of the energy efficient focus, daylight harvesting offers significant savings by offsetting a portion of the normal electrical lighting load. The lights in each area of the building were to be dimmed in conjunction with the input of natural light to achieve these savings. This was achieved through DALI light fittings and C-Bus logic inter-connectivity. We used a C-Bus DALI gateway to talk to the DALI light fittings. This meant that each light fitting could be addressed and treated as an independent light circuit without having to run a separate cable to the switchboard. ECOsystems developed a logic module within C-Bus that enabled complete control of the light fittings. This custom logic control module interfaces between the buildings lights and sensors. Without the use of a C-Bus logic engine, interfaced with the DALI ballasts, there would have been no other way to achieve the degree of control that was required. All networks are controlled over a dedicated TCP/IP network. Background  ECOsystems were contracted to install a DALI C-Bus solution for the new Department of Conservation building on Manners Street, Wellington. The DOC complex consists of three separate buildings joined together with atriums to maximise the natural daylight in the building. ECOsystems successfully implemented this large DALI / C-Bus integration on time and within budget. The building is being heralded as New Zealand’s first Five Star Green Building setting a new benchmark for buildings in New Zealand. BMS Integration  ECOsystems have also interfaced with security, fire and the Building Management System. The C-Bus occupancy detectors are being used to control the BMS zones so that when any of the 23 separate zones are unoccupied, the BMS will move into standby. After-hours, when the building is completely unoccupied, the BMS is given a signal from C-Bus to go into an after-hours mode. Lighting scenes are set in response to security and fire situations. DALI Lighting  DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is a protocol for digital communication between lighting devices. DALI is a subsystem that offers useful add-ons and features for the practical application of lighting management systems. DALI works by providing each individual light fitting, or ballast, with its own digital address so that lights may be controlled automatically within a group or individually. Preset groups of lights may be changed without any rewiring. C-Bus, by Clipsal, is a microprocessor-based control and management system of buildings and is used to control lighting and any other electrical service. Each C-Bus device has its own in-built microprocessor and “intelligence”, allowing units to be individually programmed. A single C-Bus cable connection can control an unlimited number of devices. For example, the main switch panel in a typical building could contain 200 switches and 100 dimmers (or even more), yet only one C-Bus twisted pair cable would be wired to the switch panel. Integration  ECOsystems are leaders in C-Bus to DALI integration. There are a number of benefits of integrating C-Bus with DALI which make for a much superior option than either system can offer on its own. Using C-Bus logic control, a whole higher level of outcome over and above DALI on its own also becomes possible. Department of Conservation Wellington
