2 Peter 1 by xiaopangnv

									                                   So what if I stumble?

What if I stumble, what if I fall. Then I’ll pick you up.

You don’t stand by and watch, you don’t stand and say look at Him.

Matthew 14 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.

Jesus watching peter sink reached out.

Ecclesiastes 4:10
For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls,
For he has no one to help him up.

If you fall don’t be too proud to let others help.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Not a distant and angry God.
1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and
he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

1 Peter 5:4-10 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
Be sober, be vigilant; because[b] your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking
whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are
experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

James 4:7-10
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and
He will draw near to you.

Cleanse your hands,

purify your hearts,

don’t be double-minded.

We all make mistakes, we all slip, and none of us are perfect!

Matthew 5:48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Our perfect father.

                                    So what if I stumble?

1 John 3 1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be
called children of God

Who knows what we want, what we need.

Matthew 6:31-33 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall
we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your
heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God
and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Our provider.
Doesn’t count our sins.

Confess he is quick to forgive, as far as the east is from the west psalm 103 tells us.

As far as possible our sins have been removed. Sin has been dealt with.

Sin is defeated, but we battle against it knowing Jesus has gotten the victory.

                                               2 Peter 1

                                   So what if I stumble?
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our
Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and
godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by
which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious
promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

(Revelation 21:3-4 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle
of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself
will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes;
there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the
former things have passed away.”)

Never leave you or forsake.

Closer than a brother / send the comforter / provide / care / love / show grace mercy
compassion. Help / direct.

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue
knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance
godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if
these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the
knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted,
even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for
if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to
you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

                                           2 Peter 1:10

If you do these things you will never stumble.

So do what things?

                               - NLCC UNDER CONSTRUCTION

V8 If these abound you will not be Barren or unfruitful.

ADD TO YOUR FAITH. If you don’t believe your never going to experience it.
Without faith its impossible to please God. Be a God pleaser be a person of faih.

VIRTUE, MEANS moral excellence, Christ likeness.

                                    So what if I stumble?

TO VIRTUE KNOWLEDGE, Knowledge, you gotta keep learning. Gotta keep
growing. You have to have a teachable spirit and attitude. So if reading is
difficult its not enough to say I cant but desire that you will press in. you will
disciple area of your life. Read, study, learn. Not study for study sake but to
learn how to interpret scripture to live them. Its study to live.

Problem with our educations system. And Thank God for it. But we train people
to pass examine not learn.

TO KNOWLEDGE SELF-CONTROL, self control. You take control, obviously led by
the spirit of the Lord God almighty. Not dictated to by someone else.

An example, I sit by someone really negative in work, they were sick this week
and I realised how much influence they have over the office. They don’t dictate
to me! I call the shots. The devil doesn’t call the shots, habit, have no hold on
me. Jesus is my master and He has set me free.

TO SELF-CONTROL PERSEVERANCE, the secret of perserverance is knowing that
all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according
to His purposes. Knowing He is in control, He holds tomorrow, and doing what
we do to the glory of God.

It comes back to having that transformed view. Not conforming.

PERSEVERANCE GODLINESS, In the original this means to be aware of Gods
presence, and to live like it.

TO GODLINESS BROTHERLY KINDNESS, If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his
brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can[a] he love God
whom he has not seen?

        God is love:

He loves us – we love Him. We love our brothers.

Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying:
“ Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have
drawn you.

It is so important in the Christians walk.

e.g keeping Gods word proves we love him.

                                   So what if I stumble?

Love our brothers.

We don’t love the world or the things of the world.

Genuine Love prompts us to act,

God is the source of all love.

But in 1 John 2:10

He who loves His brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in Him.

V8 If these abound you will not be Barren or unfruitful.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts
of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Psalm 139:17-18 17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they would be more in number
than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with
His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Exodus 19:5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then
you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.

We all stumble. The tongue boasts.

                                 So what if I stumble?

James 3

The Untamable Tongue

My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter
judgment. 2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a
perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Indeed,[a] we put bits in horses’ mouths that
they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4 Look also at ships: although they are so
large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the
pilot desires. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.
See how great a forest a little fire kindles! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The
tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course
of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and
creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8 But no man can tame the
tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our God and Father, and
with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same
mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a
spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? 12 Can a fig tree, my
brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and
