Boroondara Netball Association
Through numerous fundraising activities, the Boroondara Netball Association has raised $12,000 that will go towards funding a lunchtime nutrition program for students at the Tongabezi Trust School in Zambia. The Association has raised enough money for each child at the school to eat one meal a day for a year. The Association has also delivered netball dresses, skirts, whistles, bibs, balls, rule books and manuals to help with the schools netball program. As part of a recent world trip, Boroondara NA representative Emma Cartwright and Amanda Sherwen spent three days at Tongabezi running a school holiday netball clinic. Amanda and Sally Sherwen plan to spend five days working with the school’s budding young netballers while they are there, setting training methods in place that can be followed in future years.

Letters of a Nation
Australia Post is urging netball organisations, players, memorabilia collectors and fans to look through draws, cupboards and personal collections to seek out letters relating to Australia's much celebrated - and sometimes controversial - sporting history. Australia has a proud sporting history and Australia Post is looking for letters of historic significance or letters that capture the role that sport has played in the lives of everyday Australians throughout the years. Netball has played a fundamental role in Australia’s sporting history and would love it to be represented in the timeline. Letters will be uploaded to www.auspost.com.au/200, which will become an educational resource for everyone to access for years to come and preserve these letters for future generations. The letters of a Nation entries close on 25 September 2009.
