Essential Question: What do Colorado Children Need to Know about Water?

Class Sessions:
September 10: Class meets at GHS Information Center.
Before class: Please read two articles on Colorado water issues, laws, or conflicts.
These will be discussed in class.
George Sibley will discuss Colorado water issues and what every Colorado student needs to
know about water. Be prepared to discuss and ask questions.
We will pass out and discuss the class project on water.
Homework: Summarize your two articles in two different postings on the website. (We will demo in class)
Start work on your class project.
Finish reading The Secret Knowledge of Water

October 1: Class meets at the pond north of GCS.
We will reconvene at GHS Information Center.
We will do some creative writing on the topic of water.
You must have finished The Secret Knowledge of Water by tonight.
Class discussion of the book.
Homework: go into the discussion area on
and comment on four postings, not your own, based on your enhanced understanding of water.
Continue to work on your class project.
Your creative writing piece due to by October 15.

October 23; Class meets at WSCU Student Center South Ballroom
Presentation by Colorado Supreme Court Justice Greg Hobbs

Presentation of class projects.
Write class reflection and fill in class evaluation.

Class Project Assignment

Essential Question: What Do Colorado Children Need to Know about Water?

Based on the essential question, carry out a water based project of your choice and design with
at least one of your classes. This can be anything from science and math to literary or artistic.
You may incorporate The Secret Knowledge of Water or parts of it, or you may use other books,
writings, websites, speakers, or field trips.

Projects will be presented on the last evening. Please bring pictures and documentation.
