Army Sergeant Awarded Bronze Star
Army Sergeant Kyle Dimities is a medic from 503rd infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Chosen Company. Sgt. Dinkintis was awarded a Bronze Star in a ceremony April 1st,2008 for actions, which saved lives. Sgt. Dinkintis is an Army Medic who was stationed at a remote Afghanistan outpost, Ranch House Outpost, in the province of Kunar. He woke up to the sounds of gunfire one morning in August 2007. Just a few moments later about 20 members of the enemy climbed over the outer fence of the outpost. As the insurgents approached, gunfire was exchanged. Dinkintis got into his emergency gear in a hurry as did his fellow soldiers. Sgt. Dinkintis returned gunfire and treated several different soldiers in emergency triage treatment, as the fighting continued. Suddenly Sgt Dinkintis was shot in the chest. He was knocked to the ground, and almost lost consciousness. Despite being shot, Sgt. Dinkintis continued to try and help his fellow soldiers, remaining conscious and directing how medical supplies were needing to be used. Dinkintis was groggy but fought to remain awake, helping his fellow soldiers till the very last moment. After he finally passed out, he was medi -vaced to Germany for treatment. After recovering from his wounds, he insisted on returning to Afghanistan. His bravery and tenacity are a true inspiration to all who hear about his story. Information provided by www.usmilitary.com
