  SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Please ensure that you register as soon as possible to assist us in the planning
process.

VENUE AND DATE
The South African Society for Animal Science (SASAS) is inviting all members of the association,
managers, scientists, students and decision-makers in the field of animal science research and related
industries to attend the 45th Congress at East London, Eastern Cape, from 9 -12th July 2012.

The Conference will be hosted at the East London International Conference Centre on the East
London Beachfront (Esplanade).

            MAIN THEME: ‘Animal Science in a Continuous State of Change”
A large number of contributions have been received (230) for both lecture presentations and posters.
A total of 117 lecture presentations have been made provision for and at least an equal number of
posters will be expected.

CALL FOR PAPERS / POSTERS
The call for papers both title and abstracts has been closed.

EVALUATION OF PRESENTATIONS AND POSTERS
There will be student awards for the best presentations in the following categories:
    Best platform presentation - Presentation of work done towards a Masters and/or PhD degree
    Best poster – Presentation of work done towards a Masters and/or PhD degree

The objective of these awards is to encourage a high standard of presentations. Presenters will have
a choice to be evaluated or not. The criteria will be provided in the next announcement.

The student contributions will be incorporated in the sessions, i.e. there will not be a separate
student session for platform presentations.

PUBLICATION OF PAPERS
A number of papers presented at the congress will be selected to be published in the South African
Journal of Animal Science (SAJAS).      See the instructions for authors and guidelines at
www.sasas.co.za.

The full registration fee excludes bed & breakfast, but includes the following:
    All lunches (Monday to Thursday), dinners (Buffet Cocktail on Monday, Braai on Tuesday, and
        Gala Dinner on Wednesday) and mid-morning and –afternoon tea/coffee.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Please note that once a registration form is returned, arrangements will be made for meals etc.
Unless attendance is cancelled, the delegate will be responsible for the registration fee. No refunds
will be paid after 26th June 2012.
