Brief input from Paul Everill (Dragons) re upcoming Dragon Tag gala day. Team entries can still be registered. Paul offered canteen to a school to run on the day. Minutes from July Meeting - Business Arising Accepted as an accurate record of the July meeting. Moved Brett Belcher, seconded Glenn Crawford 3. Correspondence Letters to Principal’s regarding Draft Calendar 4. Term 3 Sport Evaluations - Sports Reports i. Athletics (16/8/05 Coast): Report tabled from Dave Atkins. Issues to be looked at for 2006 include progression of 100m runners to finals and the possible alignment with what happens at MacKillop ie. fastest times progress through to final, supervision of students at Beaton Park given new playground equipment, protest procedures, check of students attending selection trials needs to be done at school level as a number of students turned up this year who should not have. Concerns also from Dave McAlister at the poor PA system at the venue and that council need feedback about this. Brett asked to check with Class Act dates so a clash with athletics does not occur. JS acknowledged the great work of Dave Atkins over the years in convening this event which has been very professionally convened over his years in control. ii. Athletics (18/8/05 West): Report tabled from Maryanne Tillet. iii. Athletics (30/8/05 Selection Trials) Report tabled from Dave Atkins.
iv. Athletics (14/9/05 Mackillop): Report tabled from Maryanne Tillet. Big day hosted by the diocese and very successful. Thanks to all Wollongong teachers involved. v. Netball Gala Day (14/9/05 West). Report from Jane Pulham and Leonie Sanchez. Schools may need to look at providing own umpires next year as it is difficult to get the support from secondary schools. Thanks to both Jane and Leonie for their work on this event. They will vacate this job now as the school is looking to continue convening the soccer gala day. vi. Netball Gala Day (15/9/05 Coast) Report Tabled from Janet Sykes and Kim Downing. Kim mentioned that more teams should be allowed to enter given there are courts available to use. This will be reflected in next years journal information. 5. Term 4 Sporting Events, 2005 Discussion on upcoming term 4 sporting events. Basketball gala days were discussed. Brendan discussed south coast day in terms of new draws. We need a teacher to look after the Shellharbour venue on Friday. JS to advertise this out. Evaluation will take place after this event in terms of timing and court availability. Cricket gala days were discussed. Please note the change of dates for the south coast day. The new date is Wednesday 16th November. Coordinators asked to have nominations in by required dates to respective conveners.
6. 2006 Primary Sport Calendar Calendar for 2006 was discussed term by term. Changes to existing draft – Move touch from May 4 to May 10. All other dates appear to be good. These will be confirmed once bookings are made to relevant venues and councils. 7. 2006 Conveners and Managers Conveners – The following names were taken from the floor. Sport coordinators are asked to check at school for those names marked and also for potential vacancies that are shown below. All conveners will need to have the appropriate form signed by their Principal prior to sending the application form in. 8. 2006 MacKillop Managers Forms were included for 2006 MacKillop managers positions. These have closed BUT if you have any late possibilities please get these in ASAP. A teleconference to decide these positions will take place on Thursday 27th October to decide these positions for 2006. 9. Most common chase up will be RSVP details from individual students and photos for most outstanding If you can get all your students together and get them to respond either yes they are coming or no this is a big head start.
Checklist Distribute invitations to teachers who have contributed to sport at your school, promote the evening at your school
Ensure individual nominations are in by Friday 21st October Ensure team nomination forms are handed in – be sure to include all team names send a description of the championship they have won, scores, good players etc. Teams to my knowledge who have won state events – HSC, tennis & swim relay, John Therry – basketball intermediate boys, swim relay, St. Mary’s open basketball. I have photos of all except HSC tennis team. Please include teacher coach or manager with nomination. When the checklists come out prior to going to printers please check these for spelling, omissions or any other errors. Stay in contact and call if you have any issues related to the evening.

iii. 2006 and Beyond – CEO Re Structure Discussion on re structure and potential implications for sports program Education officers to become learning officers working in parallel school connected teams Potentially a cut to existing program. Information at this stage is not clear but there will certainly be changes to existing program Discussion from group about this issue and a request to be made to CEO leadership team to have someone available at out term 1 meeting in 2006 for further discussion. Some sport coordinators indicated that they need to speak with their Principal about this.
