Feature Event Formats
Opening Event Semi-Satellite $550 No Limit Holdem
This tournament is a standard multi-table freezeout, whereby 20% of the prizemoney ($100 per buy-in) will be awarded as Event 1 ($1100 No Limit Holdem) entries, for 1 in 11 players. The remaining prizepool will be paid out depending on entries. Events 5 & 13 $1,100 & $10,200 H.O.R.S.E.
Both of these tournaments will be played as standard multi-table freezeouts. The games played will be Holdem, Omaha Hi Lo, Razz, 7 Card Stud & 7 Card Stud Hi Lo, and will rotate every 8 hands. Event 7 $1,650 Feature Event – No Limit Holdem (Bounties)
This event has been a feature on the Aussie Millions schedule for the past 3 years. The tournament begins as a 10 handed multi-table freezeout, with one Bounty player placed on each table at the start of the tournament. The tournament breaks to an 8 handed format, allowing maximum time on each table to bust the Bounties (each Bounty is valued at $1,000). There is a redraw for tables with 32 players remaining, with players re-allocated dependent on their chip stacks. The tournament then reverts to a shootout format, with the top two players from each table progressing to the Final Table. Event 8 $100,000 No Limit Holdem Challenge
This event has grown from strength to strength over the past 3 years, from 10 players in 2006, 18 in 2007 and 25 in 2008, and is currently the biggest buy-in multi-table tournament in the world. Former $100,000 Challenge winners include John Juanda (2006), Erick Lindgren (2007) & Howard Lederer (2008), and outside of the Main Event remains the most prestigious event on the Aussie Millions calendar. Each player starts with 100,000 in tournament chips and has a limited time to act on each decision. Players are allowed 30 seconds to act on their hand, and are equipped with three “Time Breaker” buttons, which give them an additional 30 seconds to act. Betting is Pot Limit before the Flop, and No Limit thereafter. Event 9 $10,500 Main Event
The Aussie Millions Main Event is run as a standard multi-table freezeout. The event is played over 5 days and begins 8 handed. With 36 players remaining the field is re-drawn and the tournament becomes 6 handed. The event has grown rapidly over the past 6 years from 122 players in 2003 to 780 in 2008 and is one of the richest events on the international circuit. With broadcast sponsors Fox Sports Net, the Aussie Millions reaches over 100 million homes world-wide. Event 15 $1,150/ $1,000 Australian Manila Championship
Manila is a uniquely Australian variation of Poker and it is no coincidence it is scheduled on Australia Day! Played with a modified deck (7’s up) and Limit betting structure, each player is dealt two hole cards and one community card in the initial deal. Similar to Holdem, there are 5 community cards, however players must use both of their hole cards to make the best 5 card hand.
