CNC MACHINE OPERATOR

Shift: 1st (Staggered Hours)
Summary: This position is responsible for operating and maintaining various multi-
pallet horizontal machining centers to perform a series of progressive machining
operations on repetitive work to close and exacting tolerances and finishing
specifications. This position is part of a team and must be a team player, enthusiastic,
willing to learn new things, flexible, hard working, dependable, reliable, quick learner,
strong communication skills, organized, able to work alone, and be able to move from
one area of focus to another on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Setup and operate one or more CNC machines to perform machining operations
on a variety of parts involving multiple machining or cutting operations.
Select, build and install tooling according to specifications and operation.
Extensive use of blueprints, process plans, program sheets, holding fixture
location diagrams, etc. to setup and prepare machine for operation.
Upload part programs to machine with a computer.
Trial run jobs and obtains first piece approval.
Use precision measuring instruments to setup machine and check machined items.
Report malfunctions of machining equipment or program deviation to appropriate
Set up and operate drill press, saw, tapping equipment and tumblers.
Set up and operate machine tools in the shop for deburring, testing, stamping and
straightening operations performed in the hand working department.
Verify all parts produced are to the drawing specification and to Tipper Tie’s
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Perform daily, weekly and semi-annually maintenance on CNC machines.
Support for other cell operations in the Machine Shop as needed and may perform
other reasonable duties as requested by immediate supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Work Environments and Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements described in this section are necessary to successfully perform
the essential functions of this position. The candidate must be able to occasionally lift
between 50-75 pounds. Utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory
while working in the manufacturing area, including safety glasses, steel toe shoes and any
other necessary safety equipment as assigned. The noise level is at a moderate level.
1. High school degree or equivalent.
2. Must have above-average mechanical aptitude, including previous experience
operating multi-pallet CNC Horizontal Machining Center and the ability to
read machine code.
3. Proficient in working with decimals, fractions and blueprints.
4. Must be proficient with calibers, micrometers, and height gages.
5. Good oral and written communication skills and have a good understanding of
Microsoft Word and Excel.
6. At lease three year of experience in CNC Machine Operation.
