Reviews
Clinical Trials and Clinical Research Expo The AMIA Clinical Trials Working Group (CTWG) will host the Sixth Annual "Clinical Trials & Clinical Research Expo" (CT Expo) on Monday, November 13, 2006 from 5:15PM to 7:15PM. The CTWG brings together members of the informatics and clinical research communities interested in developing and promoting policies and standards, infrastructure, systems, tools and technologies that support more efficient and effective planning, design and implementation of clinical research. Clinical research is broadly defined to include clinical trials, translational research, outcomes research, health services research, etc. Sources of data may include clinical trials, observational studies, electronic health records, large databases, and patient reported outcomes. The CT Expo is an opportunity for people to share key challenges and cutting edge results, demonstrate work in progress, or propose new ideas and solutions. Some presentations will be updates on major initiatives such as Global Trial Bank, WHO Clinical Trials Registry Platform, BRIDG Project, caBIG, NIH Roadmap, etc. Presenters may include anyone actively working in the area of clinical trials and clinical research such as researchers, developers and clinicians; universities and research institutions; government agencies; pharmaceutical and biotech companies, technology and system vendors, and database or analytic companies; multi-center study groups, patient and disease registries, etc. We will have about 20 posters or demonstration stations in the Exhibit Hall. Presenters will be provided space to set up a display describing their initiatives, which may include a poster presentation, computer demonstration, handouts, etc. Backboards for posters will be provided. Wireless Internet access will be available. To register please submit the online form by Friday, October 6, 2006 at http://www.amia.org/mbrcenter/wg/ct/ctexporegistration.html. Please forward this note or the forms to anyone else who may be interested. Last year’s abstracts may be viewed at http://www.amia.org/mbrcenter/wg/ct/docs/ctexpo2005abstracts.pdf. The CT Expo is part of the AMIA Annual Symposium held November 11-15, 2006 at the Hilton Washington and Towers in Washington, DC.
