Location and Use of Safety Equipment:

   5. Eyewash:
          a. Location in Room next to front entrance under clock/shower
          b. Used for: Flushing out eyes if irritated by fumes/chemical
          c. How to Use: turn handle on, prop open eyes and place in stream of water for 15
              minutes
   6. Safety Shower
          a. Location in Room next to front entrance under the clock
          b. Used for: chemical spill covering large portion of body or in case of fire
          c. How to Use: pull handle and stand underneath
   7. Fire Extinguisher
          a. Location in Room: Two in room (1 in back on cabinet under flag; 1 in front under
              clock/next to shower)
          b. Used for: Putting out a small fire
          c. How to Use: pull out pin, stand 10 ft back, pull trigger; point at base of fire and
              sweep back and forth
   8. Fire Blanket
          a. Location in Room: by front entrance in red canister under clock/shower
          b. Used for: smothering small fire either by itself or on someone as they stop, drop
              & roll
          c. How to Use: Place over fire and stomp or pat at it or leave it to smother.

   How to heat a test tube: slanted away from self and others because it may splash
   up/bubble out.

   How to hold a microscope: With two hands; One on the base and the other on the arm of
   the microscope.

   What to do in case of fire:      a)tell teacher         b) tell others to stand back

                                    c) walk calmly to fire extinguisher or fire blanket to use

   How to clean up broken glassware:        a)Tell the teacher

                                            b) Use brush & dustpan to clean up large pieces
                                               (Do NOT use HANDS!)
                                            c) Place waste in broken glassware container
                                               (NOT trash)
                                            d) Use damp paper towel to pick up small
                                               chards/place in glassware container

   How to clean up lab: Clean up station, wash hands, then remove goggles/apron & fold
