Gameplay High Concept: Live the excitement and adventure of the old west. Tagline: The cattle barons think they own the west. This ragtag group is going to show them why they’re wrong. Genre: Western RPG Camera Perspective: Isometric but camera is controllable Why selected (how does this help the game?): Allows the player to look at the terrain for defensive and offensive advantages Player Perspective Interactivity: During battles, player can use environment for defense or offense by using environmental objects against opponents or environmental objects for protection. Player Control System: The player controls the game with a mouse and keyboard. The mouse is used to manipulate objects, direct the characters, choose menu items, and control the camera. The keyboard keys can be set up with hotkeys to simplify commands. All controls are customizable. The player also has the option of using a USB headset to give voice commands during the battle in either single or multi-player mode. Graphics: The graphics are 3D for the main walkaround and battle screens. The menus are 2D with the look of parchment paper. Audio/Sound Effects/Music: Music is instrumental classic cowboy and Native American music that plays in the background. Sound Effects are representative of the environment i.e., birds chirping in the mountains, people talking in the saloon, coyotes howling at night, etc. Dialogue done by voice actors. Back Story: Joseph Oakes is the manager of a bank in St. Louis. While leaving the bank with his wife, Catherine, robbers burst into the place. Gunfire erupts and Catherine is caught in the crossfire. One of the gunmen is killed but the other 4 flee. The police are unable, or unwilling, to help Joseph. He finds out that the one that was killed was an employee of Double Star cattle ranch in Texas. With little experience of anything west of St. Louis, Joseph heads out to avenge his wife’s death. Location: The setting is the American Old West, specifically Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, & Wyoming. Time (How does it work in the game?): While traveling between towns, time moves like normal: sunup to sundown. While in town, time is static, staying whatever time the party arrives at. The party can advance the time to the next interval by staying at an inn or stable.

Rewards/consequences: One reward the player can receive when they finish the game is the ability to go back and play through the game again as the different characters. This allows the player to experience the different characters backstory, except for the Catherine Oakes character. With the Catherine Oakes character, the game becomes an alternate history and shows what would have happened if things had been different. The characters receive rewards in the form of money and experience. They can earn money by battling humans, trapping animals for fur, and selling old items. Experience is earned by using the skills and abilities of the characters. Some of the consequences that can be found in the game is in the story itself. Depending on the outcome of battles, talking to characters, and paths traveled the story will change i.e., being beligerant to the sheriff gets you thrown in jail, whereas being nice gets your friend out. Overhead (Character selection/difficulty settings/etc.): No difficulty settings. Character selection is done when the party enters towns and/or locations. The game can be played on-line in a cooperative multiplayer mode.
