                                         Attendance Policy and Roster Eligibility
                                                    Effective Feb. 1, 2012
SUMMARY:
The following policy outlines the attendance requirements and roster eligibility for all members of Pensacola Roller Gurlz. Active
skaters who have been with the League for 90 days or more (60 days for Transfer Skaters who have previously passed skills test)
must meet the requirements outlined in order to be considered eligible for a game/bout roster position. Additionally, all skaters
placed on a bout roster must be current with their League financial obligations and must be approved for game play by the coach
and team captain(s). This means that even if a skater has met the attendance requirement, she may be disallowed from competing if
she has not paid her dues and/or if the coach and captains feel that it is not safe for her to compete or if her attitude is not
conducive to game play. In no circumstance may a skater be considered eligible for a roster if she fails to meet the
attendance/participation requirements as described below.

Section I: Attendance Point System for all Skaters
Active and Fresh Meat skaters are expected to earn a minimum of 36 attendance points within a four-week period.

The League secretary will carefully monitor each member’s points at all times, and will communicate this information regularly.
Captains will begin preparing a roster 30 days prior to a game. The roster will be a work in progress and will not be considered final
until approximately 2 weeks prior to a game. Active skaters who have been with the League for 90 days and Transfer Skaters who
have been with the League 60 days may be considered eligible for the roster if they have earned a minimum of 36 points for the
four-week period prior to the date the roster is finalized, have passed skills test, are current with dues payments AND are approved
for game play by PRG’s coach. Skaters who are selected for the roster and skaters who agree to be roster alternates must also
adhere to the PreBout Attendance Policy (noted in Section II).

Earning Points - How it works: Members will primarily earn points by attending practice or scheduled team strength/endurance
workouts. During a typical four week-period, PRG will have 12 practices (3 a week) and 6-8 scheduled workout sessions.

          On Mondays and Tuesdays:
o Earn 4 points if you fully participate in practice (showing up on time and not sitting out or leaving early).
o Earn 3 points if you attend practice but must either arrive late OR leave early.
o Earn 2 points if you attend practice but sit out due to illness or injury.
o Earn 2 points if you attend practice but arrive late AND leave early

 One Thursday a month (more if necessary) a team meeting is held at 8:30 p.m. before practice. Meetings are in Room 10
UNLESS otherwise assigned by Dreamland staff. The door shuts at 8:30; If a skater is late they will not be admitted.
Attendance at the team meeting is required to earn the full points for that night's practice:
o Earn 4 points if you attend the meeting and fully participate in practice (showing up on time and not sitting out or
                       leaving early).
o Earn 3 points if you fully participate in practice but do not attend the meeting.
o Earn 2 points if you attend practice but arrive late AND/OR leave early.
o Earn 2 points if you attend practice but sit out due to illness or injury.
o Earn 1 point if you attend the meeting but not practice.

 Scheduled team workouts at Powerhouse Gym or as otherwise scheduled with team trainer Darla Zeisset (or
designated alternate) or as scheduled with a team-contracted fitness professional will be announced via the PRG
Facebook Group page. Members will earn 2 attendance points per session attended.

 Members also may earn points for attending practices with another roller derby team, IF the team is approved by PRG.
At the time of this policy adoption, the only local team approved for this is Beach Brawl SK8R Dolls in Fort Walton
Beach. PRG skaters may earn points for attending a maximum of one BBSD practice per week. Points are earned as
              follows:
o Earn 4 points if you fully participate in practice (showing up on time and not sitting out or leaving early).

o Earn 3 points if you attend practice but arrive late OR leave early.
o Earn 2 points if you attend practice but sit out due to illness or injury.
o Earn 2 points if you attend practice but arrive late AND leave early.

If you are asked to leave a practice, you will earn 0 points for that practice. Reasons for practice dismissal are listed below.

Section II: Pre-Bout Attendance Policy for Rostered Skaters and Roster Alternates
All practices are important but practices leading up to a bout are especially important. The following additional attendance
requirement applies to rostered skaters and roster alternates after a roster is submitted (typically two weeks prior to bout day):

 100 Percent attendance is required of rostered skaters and roster alternates when a bout is two weeks away. Any
skater who is on the roster for a bout and any skater who has agreed to be a bout alternate MUST be present for all
practices during the two weeks prior to the actual bout. These final pre-bout practices are when bout line-ups are
crafted and strategies fine-tuned. Failure to be present for all scheduled practices during the two weeks preceding a
bout may result in dismissal from the bout roster.
o Should a legitimate reason for absence occur (ie., death in family, boss would not allow time off from work,
car accident, babysitter cancelled, etc.) an exception can be made IF the coach and captains(s) agree to the
exception. An exception will only be made if the skater can safely and effectively compete in the bout.
Roster alternates: Roster alternates are skaters who are ready to fill in for a rostered skater in the event she is unable
to compete, ie., an “on-call skater). Roster alternates will receive four (4) attendance points for home bouts and six (6)
attendance points for away bouts. Roster alternates must meet all attendance requirements as described above.
Section III: Excused Absences
By providing notification to the League secretary, a skater may be excused from up to four practices during a four-week span (not
including bout weeks for rostered skaters and alternates). The notification must be sent to secretary@PensacolaRollerGurlz.com
before a practice is set to begin. A skater will earn 1 point for an absence with notification and 0 points for an unexcused (un-
notified) absence.

Section IV: Other Ways to Earn Points
Skaters may “make up” up to 12 points during a four-week period by doing any or a combination of the following:
 Serving as a Non-Skating Official at a PRG home or away bout (4 points awarded for home bouts; 6 points awarded for away
         bouts)
 Serving as a Non-Skating Official at another roller derby bout utilizing WFTDA rules (2 points)
 Serving as a Bench Coach at a PRG home or away bout (4 points awarded for home bouts; 6 points awarded for away bouts)
 Playing in a sanctioned bout as a Borrowed Skater for another team (4 points)
 Attending an Open Skate Session at any area skating rink for 90 minutes or more (1 point each)
o At Dreamland, please write “Open Skate” next to your name when signing in during Open Skate sessions.
o At Landmark or Skateland: HONOR SYSTEM. Be sure to email Secretary@PensacolaRollerGurlz.com to have your
                skate session documented
 Attending a PRG committee meeting (1 point each)
 Participating in a PRG Street Team activity:
o 1 point awarded per hour of participation
Section V: Bout Attendance
Whether playing or not, all members of PRG are expected to attend all PRG home bouts and scrimmages. The only exception is for
members who have an unavoidable conflict such as work or out-of-town travel. If the conflict is known ahead of time, members shall
notify the Bout Committee Chair and League Secretary at least two weeks in advance of the Bout. If the conflict comes up
unexpectedly, she still must notify the Bout Committee Chair and Secretary. No penalty shall be issued if notification is given. If no
notification is given, the member shall have 10 attendance points deducted and may be subjected to physical punishment (mountain
climbers, push-ups, etc.) during the next practice session. Attendance at bouts is important and all members are expected to be
available to help when not playing in the bout. Member attendance is also expected at Away Bouts whenever possible.

                                          Reasons for Practice Dismissal

membership suspension:
 Negative attitude towards fellow members, new skaters, coach and skating or non-skating officials.
 Harrassment or perceived harassment of any type (sexual, physical, etc.)
