With its year-round tropical climate and miles of unspoiled beaches, Puerto Rico is an ideal destination
for a multitude of sporting events. The Island has a history of hosting world-class events, whether it is
with professional organizations like Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Players Association
and the United States Tennis Association; amateur organizations like the International Tae Kwon Do
Federation, Puerto Rico Golf Association, Karate Federation or youth organizations like the National
Collegiate Tae Kwon Do Association.

The Puerto Rico Convention Bureau has experience you can count on to help in the planning, promotion
and execution of successful sporting events. The Island also boasts an average temperature of 82° F
(28°C), making it an ideal location to practice any type of outdoor sport all year long. Additionally, it has
Olympic autonomy, which gives Puerto Rico the opportunity to bring in both national and international
events. It also offers sporting facilities for nearly every Olympic sport with the number of spectator seats
ranging from 10,000 to 18,500.
SPORTS

Aside from being a world-class destination for major sporting
events, the Island is the perfect location for your group to indulge
in an array of leisure sporting activities. From our spectacular
surfing waves and long, wide beaches, ideal for horseback riding,
to our 16 championship golf courses, the Island offers the active
traveler a long list of opportunities.

With more than 100 tennis facilities, Puerto Rico is an ideal place
for tennis enthusiasts. All major resorts have courts that are
available to guests and many are open to non-guests for an
hourly fee. Demand is normally higher in the early morning and
late afternoon, but a game during the cool evenings on a lighted
court is a great way to end the day.The Central Park of San Juan
has 17 courts open to the public from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. It’s set in
the heart of the city and fees are very reasonable.

If golf is your game then Puerto Rico is the place to tee off. Most
of the Island’s championship golf courses were designed by such
luminaries as Robert Trent Jones, his son Rees Jones, Greg
Norman, George and Tom Fazio, Jack Nicklaus, Arthur Hill and
Puerto Rico’s own Chi Chi Rodríguez. Play to your heart’s con-
tent amid tropical breezes and lush greens with views of the
white-sand beaches and the ocean’s blue waters. Several of our
golf courses are also part of world-class resorts, so after a round
of golf, you can relax by the pool and gear up for your next game.

snorkeling alongside the colorful flora and fauna are among the
most popular activities on the Island. Surfing off the northwest
coast, near the towns of Isabela and Rincón, is known around the
world as a prime location. The best time for surfing is from
December through April when the waves are at their largest.
Deep-sea fishing trips are excellent opportunities for your group
to experience the beauty of the surrounding sea. The catch varies
depending on the time of year and includes mahi-mahi, yellow
fin tuna, white and blue marlin, dorado and the occasional
