Topic:                           Shapes

Content Standard:
                                 1.1 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able
                                     to pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct
                                     stress, rhythm and intonation.

Learning Standard:
                                 1.1.3 Able to listen to, say aloud and recite rhymes or sing songs
                                       with guidance.



Objectives:
                                 By the end of the lesson, children should be able to:
                                 a) Learn about different shapes.
                                 b) Sing a song on shapes.
                                 c) Identify the shapes of the objects around them..

Time:                            60 min
Teaching Aids:
                                 Flash cards, baskets.

 3. Teacher asks the students to identify the shapes of the things in
    the playground shown on the flash cards.

4. Teacher guides the students to read the lyrics of the Shape
   song on page 93 in the textbook.



5. Teacher sings the song with the students.




6. The students sing the song with actions.



7. Teacher divides the students into four groups: Circle, Square,
   Triangle and Rectangle.



8. Each group is given a basket.




9. Each group has to collect objects in the classroom according to
   the name of their group. For example, the Circle group has to
   collect circle objects around them. The groups have to collect
   as many objects as they can in 5 minutes.


10. The group with the most objects in the correct shape wins.
