JAMES MICHAEL SULLIVAN is the Founder, Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer of SH Realty Partners, a Denver-based commercial
real estate development company specializing in mixed-use, retail,
commercial, multi-family and resort development activities.
Mr. Sullivan also founded and served as Chairman and CEO of
SullivanHayes Brokerage Corporation, a prominent Denver-based
commercial real estate company specializing in shopping center
brokerage and property management, since its inception in 1978 until
October 2004, at which time SullivanHayes Brokerage Corporate was
sold to professional tennis player Michael Chang and his family. Mr.
Sullivan has held a real estate license in the State of Colorado since
Through SH Realty Partners, and its affiliates, which continue to be owned and operated by Mr.
Sullivan, he has developed nearly six (6) million square feet of high quality real estate projects,
including over 3,000 residential units, primarily in the metropolitan Denver areas. SullivanHayes
Companies has numerous awards for Excellence in Design and Development including: the City of
Westminster for Towne Center at Brookhill in 1986 and in 1989 and for City Center Marketplace in
1997, and the coveted ICSC Design Award in 1997. SullivanHayes Companies has been judged by
the National Mall Monitor as one of the top 50 open center developers in the United States. In 1995,
SullivanHayes received the National Economic Development Partnership Award for its
redevelopment of the Westland Towne Center, Lakewood, Colorado, presented by the National
Council for Urban Economic Development.
Mr. Sullivan has been a guest lecturer at the University of Denver on the subject of shopping center
development. He is a decorated Vietnam Veteran. His list of community accomplishments include:
Judicial Nominating Committee for the City and County of Denver; past board member of the Denver
Art, Culture and Film Foundation; past member of the Mayor’s Far Northeast Denver Work Group
regarding retail issues in Northeast Denver; member of the Mayor’s Business Roundtable, as well as
other Mayor’s task force committees from time to time, including the Denver Symphony and
Gateway/Stapleton Development committees; and member of the Executive Committee for Denver’s
Performing Arts Complex.
He has been generous in his giving of time and resources to various charitable causes throughout
Denver, most notably he has served in various capacities either in a board function or as dinner chair
for the University of Colorado and CU Cancer Research Center, National Jewish Hospital, Children’s
Hospital, American Heart Association, the Kempe Foundation and shelters for the homeless such as
Samaritan House, the Grand Prix Ball, and Hope for the Children as well as numerous other society
Mr. Sullivan is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and past member of the
Executive Committee of Chain Links and the Urban Land Institute. He is also the Chairman and
Founder of the Irish Community Center, Board Member of the American Transplant Foundation,
former Board Member of Caring for Colorado, and Chairman of the Board and Director for Fresh
Start. Mr. Sullivan is married with four children and resides in Denver.
