Tablet Help Sheet for Hotel Rooms Many hotels now provide high-speed internet access from their hotel rooms. This does not mean “wireless” and could require a network cable, which is different than the phone cord used for a dial-up connection. Many hotels will “rent” a network cord if needed. When attempting to utilize a hotel’s high-speed network, connect the network cable to your laptop and the network port in your room, but you must still use the “Work Station Only” when powering-up your tablet! NOTE: It is recommended that your turn OFF the wireless radio signal when using this type of network connection. That button is located on the left side of the tablet and looks like this: “I” Once your system is powered-up, follow the directions provided by the hotel for accessing their high-speed network. Some hotels provide this free of charge, and you should be able to launch Internet Explorer and connect automatically. However, some hotels charge for this feature and control access using a log-in ID you obtain after requesting this feature. In this instance, you will normally be directed to a network log-in screen when you first launch Internet Explorer. Once you’ve connected to the hotel’s network, you should have full internet access. If you haven’t book-marked the web-mail address, type the following into your address bar to access GRCC Web-Mail: mail.grcc.edu This will take you to the log-in screen for Groupwise. Remember, this requires that you have set a Groupwise password. If the hotel provides wireless access:  Be sure the “radio” signal is turned ON. When ON, the blue indicator light is illuminated in the left hand corner. The “radio button” is located on left side of the tablet. To locate an available wireless network, right click on the wireless icon in the system tray to open the Intel Wireless Manager, or double click on the Intel Pro Wireless shortcut. o The tablet is configured to AUTOMATICALLY detect and connect to the GRCC Staff wireless network. o Wireless networks detected by the system will be listed in under “Available Networks”  This is where you will see the Spectrum Board room, Hotel networks or other “hot spot” networks listed. Select the desired network, right click and select “one time connect.” Once connected, you will now have access to the Internet (GRCC Web page, Blackboard, GRCC Web Mail, etc.)
