I place newspaper underneath then spread the Critter Chips on top. This makes clean up fast and easy and I only have to change the chips once a week. A little goes a long way. I use the chips sparingly and if my birds get a little messy, I just remove the soiled chips and replace a few. I have a very busy schedule and this works great.
