Nina Eaton, one of the original founders of what is now UCP International, was keynote speaker at the event, underwritten by People’s Alliance Federal Credit Union. Presented in increments of five years, the accolades culminated with Barbara (Terry) Houghton celebrating 30 years of professional service at UCP Suffolk. With degrees in Social Work, Terri has held positions in many departments at UCP and worked with a great number of participants, consistently providing quality service to both children and adults with disabilities for more than a quarter of a century. According to UCP Suffolk’s Chief Executive Officer, Stephen H. Friedman, “In recognizing excellence among our employees, UCP Suffolk nurtures the values we hold, rewards the extraordinary dedication we want to nourish and encourages staff to excel beyond job requirements fostering an outstanding commitment to our program participants.” Friedman formally acknowledged Rhonda Rouse for her continued devotion and on-going efforts to encourage Life Without Limits for people with disabilities. As recipient of the 2007 UCP Quality is Excellence Award and an advocate for people with disabilities, Rhonda exemplifies professionalism. She strives daily to enhance the quality of life for all individuals served. Rosa Genaro was recognized as the UCP 2007 Employee of the Year. Rosa joined UCP in 2001, as a Direct Care Aide. She was soon promoted to Assistant Residence Manager and in 2003 became a Residence Manager at one of UCP Suffolk’s 28 residences. Her dedication to the care of those she serves goes well beyond the scope of her job description. Rosa’s commitment has enabled the house she works in to become a true family home.
