                                                       W           elcome to the Portland Development Commission’s 2001-02 to
                                                                   2005-06 Business Plan Summary. PDC’s Five-Year Business Plan
                                                                   serves to bring focus and consensus to our housing, jobs and
                                                          revitalization activities and assures we have the programs and projects
                                                          in place to meet 2040 goals. As one of the city’s key agencies charged with
                                                          implementation of these goals, we remain committed to continuing and
                                                          building upon the partnerships that will lead us toward the continued
                                                          livability of our city and region.
                                                          Over the next five years we plan to assist in the rehabilitation or development
                                                          of more than 6,100 housing units, assist in the retention and recruitment of
                                                          more than 8,700 jobs and continue our work on major redevelopment projects
                                                          such as the CascadeStation Development in connection with Airport Max, a
                                                          new mixed-use development in Portland’s west end, a new park in the River
                                                          District, and a new town center mixed-use project in Lents.
                                                          We are particularly excited about the opportunity to bring added focus and
                                                          resources to our most recently approved urban renewal districts along the
                                                          Interstate Corridor and in Gateway. As always, we will continue our work
                                                          in neighborhoods through our small business loan programs as well as our
                                                          single- and multi-family housing programs.
