Kiernan Chair, IEEE 802.16 WGSG on Systems below 10 GHz The following text modifications to the sub10 PAR are proposed: Page 2, Section 6, Scope of Proposed Project, third sentence; Insert “in licensed frequency bands” between “…systems operating” and “between 2 and 6 GHz…” Insert “such as MMDS/ITFS” between “…and 6 GHz” and “but is broadly applicable…” Page 3, Section 9, 3rd bullet; Replace with “IEEE 802.11 addresses primarily short range WLAN applications. This standard is specifically directed towards wireless MAN/WAN applications with large numbers of widely dispersed subscribers per base station.” The following text modifications to the sub10 Five Criteria are proposed: Page 2, Section 3, Distinct Identity, Part a), first paragraph, 2nd Sentence; Insert “licensed” between “…operated by a” and “third party.” Insert “, such as a local or inter exchange carrier or an ISP,” after “third party” Page 2, Section 3, Distinct Identity, Part a), first paragraph, 3rd Sentence; Delete “also” Replace “small” with “short” Page 2, Section 3, Distinct Identity, Part a), second paragraph; Add a new second sentence “At frequencies below 11 GHz, operating distances can be expected to range from 3 to 30 kilometers.” 1
