To celebrate International Talk Like A Pirate Day the Department of English/Creative Writing is sponsoring:
Write Like A Pirate Day
WHO: WHAT: WHEN: WHERE: WHY: Stephens College community (You must register to attend.) Pirate Haiku Contest results! Pirate food! Pirate costume contest! September 19th: 12:00 – 1:00PM (costume judging begins at noon) Columbia Foyer

PIRATE HAIKU CONTEST RULES:
• All entries MUST be turned in by NOON on September 15th • Turn in TWO copies of each haiku – one with your name, one without (clip or staple) • Drop off in the E/CW Department Pirate Haiku box OR send to: • Pirate Haiku, E/CW Dept. Box 2034 • You may enter up to TWO Pirate Haiku • Haiku will be judged on haiku format, use of pirate talk, and visual or sensory image
ABOUT HAIKU:
• • Three lines: Lines 1 & 3 have 5 syllables, line 2 has 7 syllables A haiku usually includes a visual image in combination with another sense image
