DKU-5 Cable Installation Instruction Last updated 9.16.2004 1a. Installing the Data Cable Driver (DKU-5) Plug your data cable to the USB port of your computer (DO NOT plug in your cell phone to the cable before you finish installing the driving.) Your system should detect this data cable and notify you about this new hardware. In the notification, choose to use the driver included in the CD-ROM. Double checking the installation of the Data Cable Driver After successful installation of the driver, go to control panel, doubleclick the "System" icon, go to the “Hardware” tab, click on the “Device Manager” button. Under “Ports ((COM & LPT)”, there should be a device "USB - Ser..COM#” (COM# is means the port used for the USB data cable). You will need to use this information when you use Nokia PC Suite. 1b. Install the USB Driver (DKU-2) Install the .exe file under the folder “CD\Step 1 USB Data Cable Driver\Nokia DKU-2”. 2. Install the Nokia PC Suite. In the CD-ROM, go the folder by the name of your cell phone model. Install the Nokia PC Suite in the folder. (if your cell phone model is not included in the CD-ROM, please visit the Nokia web site to download your PC Suite installer. We include a list of links in the LINKS section of this document. ) After finishing the installation of the PC suite, plug your phone to the data cable. 3. Detecting your phone with the Nokia Connection Manager In your system tray, there should be a Nokia icon. Double click on the icon to open the Nokia Connection Manager application. Alternatively, you can go to the Control Panel and find Nokia Connection Manager there. In this application, select “USB” for DKU-2 cables, and “Serial” for DKU-5 cables. If you click serial, select the port where “Prolific USB-to-Serial” is installed. Wait for a moment, your phone model should then show up as connected. If that doesn’t happen, unplug your USB cable and plug it in again. 4. Congratulations!! Now you Nokia PC Suite is ready! IMPORTANT NOTE: 1. To allow connection between the computer and your phone, you have to first turn OFF the charge function on your data cable. In other words, please make sure the large red light button on the data cable is switched OFF. 2. If there is any connection error, please reboot your machine, switch off your cell phone, and reconnect. 3.
