Help Sheet for Dr. Kellum’s Business Research Project, Step #1
Use the following databases to find information. Suggestions and tips for using them are listed below. Also, if you access the databases outside of school, you will need to use the usernames and passwords to log-on.
EbscoHost
Username: libertyville Areas to Use: Password: wildcats Click on “Magazine, Newspaper, Health, etc.” Be sure to click the ‘select all’ box (very tiny at the top of the page) to search all the options and then check the “full text” box. Using the “Student Research Center” would help but the citation must be generated. Click on the citation icon and select MLA to copy—be sure to reverse indent.

Username: 100107316 Areas to Use: Citation: Password: wildcats Click on “ArticlesFirst” in the upper, left-hand corner—always check the “full text” box. The citation information is done and found under the tab “External Resources: Cite This Item.” Select the proper form.
Lexis Nexis
Login ID: lhslibrary Areas to Use: Citation: Password: wildcats Study separate search areas carefully to select which is best for your research. Statistics would be best but News could be helpful. Information is available but it depends on the article. You will have to generate your own citation from the information at the top.

Login ID: libertyville Areas to Use: Citation: Password: wildcat May click on the bold “Chicagoland Newspapers” at the top to search all the papers listed or select the one you prefer. Click on the “Bibliography Export ” on the right-hand side and then select the “MLA Citations” button.

Step #4: Internet Google
Use the Internet wisely. Set up a good internet search when you use Google. Remember to use the “+” and “-“ symbols to narrow down the search. For example: price of real estate Lake county Illinois “price of real estate” +"Lake county" +Illinois Cuil Another search engine option is Cuil at www.cuil.com. This engine searches for and ranks pages based on their content and relevance. Other choices and suggestions are offered as well on the right-hand side.
