MARCH 25, 2013, AUBURN – PlacerArts and Tango de Oro invite you to explore the exciting world of
Argentine Tango at The Arts Building Gallery on Friday, September 11. The evening starts with a
beginning tango lesson at 8:00pm, and continues from 9:00 to midnight with milonga dance party featuring
professional tango dancers and live DJ.
This is the final tango evening of PlacerArts’ second Tango de Oro season at The Arts Building. Don’t miss
this opportunity to experience the passion and connection of this exciting dance experience that brings

and ankle straps for the ladies help to keep those shoes on.
Featured artists on September 11 are tango professionals Debbie Goodwin & John Campbell, who were the
first couple to bring Argentine Tango to Auburn. Together, they developed “Alma Del Tango”, a teaching
program dedicated to the art of Argentine Tango that was based in Auburn and Sacramento from 1996-
2003 and sponsored numerous workshops for visiting Masters from Argentina. Currently they teach and
perform together in Marin County.
Debbie & John’s style is at its center the classic Tango of the past, infused with elegant interpretations of
Tango Nuevo movement. Their teachers over the years have included milongeros of a generation now
passing, as well as the essential masters of the New Generation of Tango Nuevo.
While Debbie Goodwin and John Campbell specialize in Argentine Tango, Debbie’s dance background is
more extensive. Since relocating to the SF Bay Area, Debbie creates and produces dance productions such
as, “Tango, A Romantic Ritual” (Feb 2008 & 2009) and “Tango House” (July 2009). She is the creative
force behind the formation of the all woman Tango Con*Fusion Dance Company where she devotes her
artistic attention as a choreographer and featured dancer.
John’s dance career has consisted entirely of Argentine Tango. He has performed major roles in “Tango! A
Story of Sacramento’s Argentine Tango Community,” “Tango! Rhythms of the Heart,” and “Tango, A
Romantic Ritual.” He has collaborated in production of these shows, and produced video documentaries of
