Until This Day ‘Until This Day’
Self-Released on 10 November 2011
Until This Day are a new, young alternative rock band from a sleepy little commuter town called
Crumlin, just outside Belfast, who are determined to make a big noise on the local scene. This two-
track EP is their first foray into making that vision become a reality.
‘Hold On’ is certainly an impressive enough first step along the path, a mellow mid-tempo tune
based on both acoustic and electric guitars and a solid rhythm section. Lisha’s voice is the dominant
feature, gentle and lush, with touches of Suzanne Vega, Joni Mitchell and Laura Marling.
Second track, ‘Don’t Cherish’ is a lot rockier, with a ballsy bass beat and a winding guitar line, over
which Lisha sometimes struggles to be heard, but she delivers the lyrics with clarity and confidence.
The two songs offered on this debut release most definitely are not going to change the world or
turn UTD into overnight sensations, but they present a nevertheless worthy introduction to what,
hopefully, promises to be a damn fine wee band.
