Minutes of the Meeting held on Wednesday 28 September 2005 The minutes of the last meeting were agreed. 3. Matters Arising BAE should read BAE Systems VT Limited should read V T Shipbuilding Presentation by John Slater, Planning Service (Portsmouth City Council) Forum took place of 3 or 4 members. No comments regarding presentation. 4. Walking for Health Wendy Briggs, Health Development Officer for Portsmouth City Council spoke about the Walking for Health initiative. Walking for Health is a national scheme set up along with the Countryside Agency in 2004. There are several 1-2 mile walks already in place. Wendy spoke of the benefits of regular exercise. Just 30 minutes every day is beneficial. Walking cuts down the risk of: Heart disease Stroke Diabetes Blood pressure There are 30 people at present doing the lunchtime walk at the Civic Offices, Portsmouth. For further information on the Walking for Health initiative, please contact Wendy Briggs, Health Development Officer at Portsmouth City Council, email wendy.briggs@portsmouthcc.gov.uk. Barbara Green, Highbury College, setting up walks for employees. B&Q to promote The WAHH Hallmark at the Pompey Centre Store. 5. Active Transport Ross McClean, Physical Activity Project Worker, Havant Borough Council presented a report on ways to become more active and spoke about physical activity in the area. He is developing the cycle and bridle ways in Havant, improving cycle routes and facilities, more bike sheds and having a pool of bikes for employee use. Ross is promoting lunch time walking, football, healthy days (courtesy of Fitness First) (20% discount at Nike for Havant Borough Council staff), setting up a web page detailing discounts at gyms, sports events, sports stores and generally to make employees of Havant Borough Council more aware of fitness. 6. Report ACT 10th Annual Conference – Amanda Morris Amanda spoke about the ACT 9th Annual Conference which was held on Tuesday 21 February in London. The conference concentrated on the first 10 years of travel planning and the future. The Highways Agency won the award for innovation for their work on IBT at locations such as Whiteley. 7. Information Exchange Andy Silvester (MOD) Andy commented on the Green Travel Roadshow saying it was an excellent and very worthwhile event. Tracey Ford (Havant Borough Council) Travel Plans for Havant have to be completed this year. Large development at the Broadmarsh site providing a bus service. Tony Pepper (BAE Systems) Trying to implement Travel Plan for the past two and a half years but increasingly difficult due to the parking charges in Gosport. Group perhaps to get in contact with Gosport Borough again – charges having reflection on Portsmouth. Maybe invite Gosport to Forum. Barbara Green (Highbury College) Publicised Halfords Tax Incentive bike scheme – not a lot of feedback. Trying to get more people to cycle to work. Looking at business mileage to get staff to cycle to work. Contribution to Local Transport Plan – no response as yet. More publicity for night buses rather than taxi for student use General Travel Plan being implemented for college, 2-3 years review. Survey done was difficult – large costs to bring consultants. Students undertook survey on their behalf for the North Harbour site. More to do on Travel Plan. David Garney (First) Joint bus/Gosport ferry ticket to be implemented. Roll out to businesses. Cost to be confirmed. Gwil Williams (East Hampshire District Council) Travel Plan at Petersfield has now been completed. A3 bus corridor extended to Clanfield – working well, buses every 10 minutes and takes 50 minutes to Gunwharf Quays. Amy Silvester (Hampshire County Council) Amy is the new representative for Hampshire County Council. Amy Bristow is on maternity leave, Laura Hirst is leaving. Staff travel plans being updated. Tansey Tier (Johnson Controls / IBM) Tansey has recently been appointed. Promoting the car share database. Things changing at North Harbour. Allocated car parking spaces for registered users with at least 2 people sharing. Monthly Green Focus poster for area being implemented. Carole Redman (IBM North Harbour) Travel Plan Co-ordinator for IBM. Survey being undertaken. Travel Plan results by 10 March 2006. Andy (VT) MOD part of Aircraft Carrier Alliance. Now has drawing office on site with numbers increasing. Introducing flex benefits, one of which is bike discounts for travel. GO Green displayed on notice boards and via email. Minibuses have increased as has people car sharing. John Miller (B&Q Plc) 70 stores with Travel Plans and increasing. Stamp book created. After gaining six stamps is then stamped by travel consultant. By getting these stamps you are then eligible to be entered for a prize draw. The more stamps you get the bigger the prize. Stores throughout the country are taking part. Amanda Morris (Portsmouth City Council, Planning) Amanda circulated an update from Paul Denyer with regard to DFT Travel Plan Guidance, Local Transport Plan 2, Portsmouth City Council Internal Changes, Developments and Cycling. (see attached) Amanda also circulated her own update with regard to the route change to 24-bus service from 2 April with an increased frequency. (see attached) SSA (site specific advice) coming to an end as of March 2006, Travel Plan leaflets, Green Travel Promotions including:    Green Travel Roadshows Commuter Challenge – Wednesday 10 May 2006 17 March – Commuter Challenge Co-ordinators Meeting 9 and 10 May – Commuter Challenge Information event Portsmouth Bike2Work Day – Wednesday 21 June 2006 Maureen Frost (Chamber of Commerce) Meeting in March to decide whether to include Portsmouth Monorail in Travel Plan. East Hampshire, Transport Event – 1 March, 6.00pm, Churchers College, details on webside. 8. Dates of Next Meeting The next meeting will be held on Thursday 20 July 2006 at 2.00pm, the Banqueting Suite, the Guildhall, Portsmouth (tbc) Please note date change to Thursday August 3rd at 12:30 for buffet lunch followed by Commuter Challenge Award Ceremony and SignPOST meeting.
