It's a whole new way of dealing with the internet and using the tools provided by the world wide web... Our children were born into this new world... We are immigrants! I desperately need the "green card"! There are tons of sites to learn about, to learn from, to learn with. I think this image represents the 'world out there', it is a metaphor for diversity, different learning styles, plurality, choice, learning. And, if we want to include it in our teaching, we have to do our share of learning first! Daniela Meyer I also think it represents the necessity we humans feel to express ourselves, share who we are, and exchange experience - to connect. It represents a wealth of input for our students and infinite chances for real, meaningful exchanges which give meaning to what is done in the classroom. Patricia Fleury it represents exchange of experiences and connecting, but it also represents this magnificent, never ending creativity human beings are capable of having. Aren't you amazed at what we are capabable of doing? we will need to put a lot of work into keeping up to all the new stuff that is always coming out. Will we be able to learn about 1/4 of what we have here? Patricia Faustino I would add the discoveries of our own abilities we will see how this will be rewarding and worth doing. Kelly when I think about me as a teacher, I don't believe that I can continue teaching with the doors closed to this variety of tools that is available on the internet and that our students love. I really believe that we have to understand their language and to live their world to have a good and effective learning process taking place in our classrooms. Daniele Almeida No doubt the world is not the same anymore. The possibility to interact gives people endless alternatives to learn and to change their mindset, values and points of view.
Probably the concept of identity we have nowadays will be a different one in the next few years as well as this feeling of belonging to a group. The possibility of belonging to groups has become a very wide one. Not only as teachers but as people, I think it's a good idea to get to know what's going on around us. This can make us more interesting as people and teachers and our lessons more dynamic. It can help us speak the same language as our students and in this way be able to get closer to them, especially if you teach adolescents. I can never see professional development as something different from personal development so to learn about the changes in the world, no matter if they are related to technology or to anything else can only make you a better person and professional. I think that to feel that you have to learn all this quantity of new things can bring a lot of anxiety, tough luck, we need to learn how to put up with it. At least I have to. Cecília

I think that classes nowadays are like this picture. There are so many resources to be used that you can always try something different and see which work better. And since we are living the internet area and it's getting more and more popular among schools we have to get to know about them. I think that it's no longer a special resource or alternative to more exciting classes. In my opinion these internet things have become mandatory. I mean, we will definitely have to learn about it because that's what the reality in the classroom demands nowadays. Vinicius We have been provided with different web sources that are there for us. However, it takes time to get familiar with what each one has got. Maria da Luz It's a huge way of accessing the tech World. It might be a complex system of this new century but in the same time it can represent the facility of getting faster and more modern information. Cleverson it seems that there's a lot out there to be learned, a lot of interesting sites to be surfed and new challenges to be met. I'm a very curious person with almost zero knowledge of how to operate the web tools but I'm really curious to see what is behind these colorful websites. We have to help them grow and understand that there's more beyond the language they are learning, there's a brand new world waiting for them. I think this picture represents who we are. Everyone sells their image (it's true, we all do). What you see is what you get. I know it may seem to be superficial, but teaching has to do with marketing, too. And this is all related to our professional development: the more interesting, the better our classes get.
