Meet information cell phone text messages andor online Twitter

Reviews
Meet information cell phone text messages and/or online Twitter postings to be available during the CCSL Champ Meet We will utilize Twitter to assist us in broadcasting pertinent meet info during the Champ Meet. Simply put, Twitter.com is an online message-posting service. We will be posting online and also texting to registered cell phones as to which events are in the water, which swimmers should be at the Ready Area, who has won events, records set, etc. This will be in addition to “traditional” means of communicating via public address announcements, posted signs, etc., but with the widespread area where folks will be situated, we believe this will greatly facilitate communication for coaches, fans and swim families in our expected “tent city.” JOINING TWITTER You must first join Twittter. Go to our www.ccslswim.org home page and click the Follow CCSL on Twitter link near the top center of the page. On the page which follows, click the JOIN NOW button, as you must register as a Twitter user (it is free). There are several optional registration pages which may be skipped. Click FINISH and you will be set up as a CCSL Twitter “follower.” You will be taken to your new Twitter account home page, and will see any previously posted CCSL messages (“tweets”) along with any other you are following. FOLLOWING ONLINE If you do not want to receive text messages to your phone from ccslswim, but just want to follow the tweets online, you can: 1. Go to www.ccslswim.org website on your phone browser during the meet — the latest 5 “tweets” will be continually shown on the home page. Your browser must have the proper java settings. Or . . . 2. Once you are registered on the main Twitter website, you can log in from a mobile phone browser, too, at m.twitter.com, Go to m.twitter.com on your phone's browser for a mobile version of Twitter. If you have signed up to FOLLOW ccslswim, you will get “tweets” in your Twitter account as they are posted. You must log in to your account to see them. This is totally free, no text charges. Or . . . 3. There are several iPhone Apps which are available for managing Twitter. Of course, viewing the “tweets” online will require proactive checking the website or your app on your part; there is no “notification” alert. Texting will alert you as always when you have received a text. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO RECEIVE TEXT MESSAGES FROM CCSL, THEN YOU ARE DONE. BUT YOU MUST BROWSE TO YOUR TWITTER.COM PAGE TO SEE CCSL MESSAGES, OR USE M.TWITTER.COM ON YOUR CELL PHONE/PDA, OR USE A TWITTER APP ON YOUR IPHONE. RECEIVING TEXT MESSAGES IF YOU DO WANT TO RECEIVE TEXT MESSAGES FROM CCSL (this setup can be cancelled anytime): To receive these informational text messages on your cell phone during the CCSL Champ Meet from CCSL's Twitter account, setup requires a two-step process — You must first register your cell phone number with Twitter if you want to enable your phone to receive texts in general from Twitter; and then, specifically tell Twitter you want to receive text messages from CCSL: Go to Settings (along the page top), then click the Device tab, OR just hit the Turn on your mobile phone link under What to do now: at the bottom of your messages. Enter your mobile phone # (be sure to preface with a "+1" as they advise). You will then see a verification code which you are to text from the registered phone, to number 40404. If successful, you will receive a confirming text back, and your device is then enabled to receive texts of your choosing from anyone on Twitter you select. Note: texts are not free. Your normal text rates apply. You must now tell Twitter that you want your enabled phone to receive text messages specifically from CCSL. On your Twitter home page, click the “following” link in the upper right of your home page. You will then be on a page with CCSL listed, plus any other Twitter accounts you are “following.” You will see a choice of Device Updates: On/off under CCSL. This is where you tell Twitter to allow CCSL to send you text messages or not. OFF means you will not receive texts; ON means you will. Select ON and you will receive text messages from CCSL. You can come back to this page anytime later (say, after the meet), and click to NOT receive texts from CCSL. (If you decide to quit following CCSL altogether, you can “remove” CCSL from your followers list on this page anytime, also). Texts will show as being sent from the number 40404 (or 404-04 as it may show), but the text message which follows will be preceded by ccslswim: and then the message being sent.
