Carboxytherapy/Carbon dioxide Therapy: Its effects on skin
irregularity and its use as a complement to Liposuction. A new &
Innovative Technique.

Drs Brandi, D’Aniello et al in 2004 described the addition of carbon dioxide
therapy as an adjunctive treatment for conventional liposuction. For
successful conventional liposuction, it is necessary to consider the
competence of the surgeon as well as the physical and physiological state
of the patient. A poor result is often related to the persistence of fatty
tissue irregularity in the operated sites.

This complication, common to this kind of surgery, led to the research and
determination that the addition of CO2 gas administered below the skin
into the subcutaneous tissues will reduce and or eliminate these localized
post operative accumulations of fat. Alternative forms of treatment have
been advised to assist the general recuperative process, but none have
been successful in eliminating these localized fatty deposits.

Carboxytherapy is an innovative, safe and effective therapy for skin
irregularities and skin tightening, improving the elasticity of the overlying
skin and as a complimentary treatment for residual fatty deposits.

Carboxytherapy works in two complimentary ways. Firstly, it kills fat cells
by a process of lipolysis. Secondly, it causes blood vessels to dilate which
increases the blood flow and hence the oxygenation to the area. This result
is it eliminates the built up fluids between the cells and the end result is
fewer fat cells and firmer tissues.

Carboxtherapy can be used in any part of the body. It is a therapeutic and
highly efficient treatment for cellulite, ideal for women at any age.

Carbon Dioxide Therapy is simple to perform, Safe, and relatively painless.
No anesthesia is required. There are no restrictions following treatment.
Carbon dioxide is non toxic. Carbon dioxide is naturally produced by the
cells in our bodies every day. It is a by product of metabolism, where it is
transported in the blood and exhaled.

Between15-20 sessions are needed and depending on what needs to be
done it is performed either once or twice a week. Each session lasts about
15 minutes.

Results are noticed after the 5th treatment and after the 8th- 10th treatment
you will notice that the skin is firmer.

The benefits will last depending on you with diet and exercise contributing
to the results. Like all rejuvenation treatments, maintenance treatments
should be carried out every 3-6 months.

Side effects are minimal and resolve very quickly, and include mild pain at
the injection site, a crackling sensation of the skin, and possible bruising of
the tissues, which did not leave any lasting esthetic effects, and all of
which are self limiting.

Carboxytherapy is that it is an amazing treatment modality for Scars,
Cellulite, Skin conditions including Psoriasis, Skin laxity and Hair
Restoration.
