It is that time of the year where students’ knowledge of the Georgia Performance
Standards will be put to test. Beginning Tuesday, April 19th, students in grades first through fifth
will be testing on the CRCT. Even though the State of Georgia is not requiring that students in
first and second grade take the CRCT this school year, the Thomasville City School System has
elected to create a standardized test that will be equivalent to the CRCT. This test, along with
other tests and report card grades, will determine if the student will be recommended for
promotion and will help with placement for next year. For students in third and fifth grades, the
State of Georgia requires that they pass the CRCT with a score of 800 or greater. For fourth
grade students, CRCT results, combined with other tests and report card grades, will be the
determining factor for promotion.
Parents can help their child prepare for the CRCT by making sure that they receive a
good night’s rest. Students should be asleep no later than 9:00 P.M. It is very important that
students not only be present during testing days, but also arrive before 7:50 A.M. so that they
may eat breakfast before going to class. Students arriving to school after 8:30 will not be allowed
in the testing room. Incentives will be offered to students who arrive to school on time every day.
Please take time to review the attached information that gives more information about the
tests, including scheduling. If you have any questions, please give Ms. Jordan a call at 225-2631
or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
