                  A Maturity Model
Based on the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) from the software industry
Level of Key characteristics
   maturity
Initial Few processes are defined, and success depends QC
                 on individual heroics.

Repeatable The basic processes are in place to repeat earlier
                  success.
Defined The processes are documented, standardized and More evidence
                  integrated. QA
                                                                             More trust
Managed Detailed measures of the process and product
quality are collected. Both processes and
                  products are quantitatively understood and
                  controlled.
Optimising Continuous process improvement is enabled by
quantitative feedback from the process and
                 from piloting innovative ideas and
                 technologies. TQM
